Still yelping frequently after getting up from lying down.  Hoping it is muscular, and he certainly doesn't mind my wife and I massaging his neck and shoulder so frequently.

He is getting his staples out Tuesday morning, and perhaps learning the final pathology.  I will see what the vet has to say as well and report back.

Hmmmmm....does he show any tenderness when you go up and down his spine or towards his rear?

Just getting up? After thst everything normal...well...normal for a tripawd!?

Yeah, maybe the vet could give you better insight. As crazy as it sounds, it co u ld even be something like a stitch pulling or sticking him or pulling too tightly....possible?

HOMER, YOU ARE ADORABLE!!! Love your avatar picture!

Thank you for the kindness and the suggestions.  My wife this morning said she thought a staple may be pulling on him. We will know tomorrow when he has them finally removed (e-collar free!) and the vet will check his musculature too.

i would like to post more pics once he looks himself again without the collar.  He will feel freer too. I am also hoping to get him off the tramadol which affects him too.

I will follow up and thanks again for the support.

Staples are out and the collar is gone. Small victories!

the vet felt near his scapula and he yelled from the pressure. She scared us into thinking it was a metastasis since she never heard of yelping like that there after amputation.  She was a resident and I know from here on the forum it isn't that unique.  She got an X-ray that was clear and we went on our way.  Still she is making us nuts that we amputated and he may another lesion in the other limb.  I keep saying to myself that what makes sense is a muscle pull. It happened right after surgery in the remaining limb that all of a sudden has to work twice as hard.  Plus his alk phos level was normal a month ago.

We are also nervous because the timing stinks (is it ever good?) as we will be out of the country soon for 10 days and we are so apprehensive. We are leaving him in capable hands with all contingencies covered but still we want to be with him as he trusts us most.

We are still awaiting final path, delayed by weather, but have arranged for treatment as soon as we return.  I suspect it will chemo route although I am going to explore adjunct holistic herb therapy with the oncologist.  I assume that will happen after his treatments are done.

Thanks for listening.  Writing this down is a stress relief!
