Hi Everyone -

Today, my dog Murphy, had his 3rd round of chemo. He is taking Lomustine - 90mg - every three weeks.  Four days after the Lomustine, he goes on antibioticsto ward off possible infections.  He is also taking denamarin , which is 'supposed" to protect his liver.

Although outwardly he seems to be handling the chemo well, his Dr. said that she is concerned because "his liver values are elevated and should be watched closely."  I asked her what did this mean regarding his treatment - and she said that if the values continue to rise, we'll have to stop chemo. He is only half way through (6 treatments have been prescribed). I am a little concerned (I am trying not to panic - which I have a tendency to do) because his liver values have been slowly on the rise to the point where this has now become an issue.

To me, the question is: which is the lesser of two evils: Stop the chemo and take away his chances of being cancer-free - or - continue chemo and cause further liver damage. There is no easy answer...

I was wondering if anyone has experienced something like this???

Debbie & Murphy
