His platelets were up to 246 so he is undergoing his second round right now.

There was a kitten there a couple weeks ago that had been found in the road with serious eye infections and other nastiness. She  had been sequestered in her own room while healing and Charlie and I found it good "watching" while we were waiting. Anyway, she is better and awaiting a new home, today (Charlie has a thing for kittens...and well, cats, dogs, rabbits, squirrels, etc.).

When I pick up Charlie from chemo, maybe he'll have a new buddy. big-grin

Anyway, hoping this round goes well. Thanks to you all for all of your support. So appreciated!

When we got Coco, she was only a week old and her eyes weren't even open yet. He came with and thought she was great, but I was worried he would accidentally hurt her. Now, he's terrified of her! Although Coco is a terror…I can't blame the poor guy. laugh

She's a Manx, thus, no tail (although she does have a little nub). Does that mean she has a MB? oh-my

Charlie,

We are hoping that this round of chemotherapy goes well. My only problem was a total loss of appetite. All those chemicals just gave all food a very nasty taste. Dad has always said that the chemotherapy was far worse than the amputation and that I really did not make major improvements until the chemotheapy was over. However, after that most of my appetite did return and life was very good.

You will be in our thoughts,

Spirit Cherry

Were you able to put that picture in? I couldn't figure it out, hence the link I posted.

You can actually see the fear in his eyes in that picture!

Hoping all goes well with the 2nd round of chemo. I love the picture of Charlie and Coco. Fortis had two Manx housemates, Spook and Wookie. I just recently had to say goodbye to Wookie at the old age of 21+. I know Fortis misses them both.

Brett, I'm so sorry about Wookie. Twenty one? WOW! That's a good life, for sure.

Mr. VQ was not as thrilled about the idea of a kittie. embarassed However, when I got Coco (who he didn't approve of yet named her), after I got up in the middle of the night feeding her, pottying her (like a momma cat, but I used damp paper towels instead of my tongue) and doing all the care one needs to for a baby, she became 'his cat'. What the blank? One word: Traitor! laughing

He is home now, however not before saying goodbye to all the animals there...we then went to the coffee shop (bone) and the bank (asking if he was a service dog because of the Ruff Wear harness , when learning of the cancer, she gave him 3 bones!). He's tired and his hop over the last 24 hours has been "off".

One of the doctors is thinking of adding Artemisinin to his treatment. Has anybody had experience with this?

That's a very forward-thinking vet.

Lots of folks have experience with it, here are some links:

Glad he's home and all is well. He's probaby stuffed and sleepy from all those treats!

Good luck with the 2nd treatment.  Mackenzie went through 5 carboplatin treatments and boy was I glad when she was finally done with it.  That's cute about the service dog comment...he really does look like a service dog - servicing his pawrents to not worry too much about him and can't forget those kitties either.  We'll be keeping our paws crossed that Charlie gets through his treatments with flying colors! cool

Kami (Mackenzie's Mom)

My sweet golden Mackenzie.  She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2  although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home.  She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009.  She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes.  I love you Mackenzie!

Dr. Cuoto of Ohio State University told me that artemisinin should be started after chemo is done, but then I read another article saying that it helps with chemo where his name was sited - his email is listed, so I suppose you could ask him about it?
