Hi Jerry,
I thought I did set the darn photos to "public" but will go in and double check. I'll figure this out soon - thanks!!!!

I discovered that I actually have a vet that utilizes both acupuncture and Chinese herbs located about two miles up the road from my new house, so I was very excited and made an appointment yesterday to bring Jerry in and discuss whether he'd be a good candidate for acupuncture. She examined him for a long time and ended up taking a sample of his scabs and looking at it under a microscope. Came back as a raging yeast infection with some other bacteria (I didn't catch what kind). So....she said to stop using the Gabapentin and gave him a Convenia injection and also a bottle of TrizCHLOR 4HC spray to spray on his open scabs twice per day. He then is to get Miconazole cream on them once the spray dries. We went yesterday morning so so far he has had three sprays and administrations of cream and he is still itching the crud out of them.
This vet was very nice and I appreciate her taking the time to investigate other potential causes of his constant itching and scratching. I need to take him back in 12 days for a recheck. I am praying this is the solution he needs and that it is just an infection and clears up soon. I am very very stressed about it at this point!

An infection? Why the heck didn't the other vet find that? Well, vets are people too...
I hope so much that this is the answer and will make the difference. Since he's still scratching I wonder if his claws need to be "sterilized" or cleaned or sprayed so that he doesn't re-infect. Cat's claws are very dirty.
I understand your stress. I hope it's relieved soon and you have some peace over the holiday season. I love the photos. Jerry is gorgeous, I just love tabby markings. It's interesting how his colour changes so much with the lighting and background colours. He looks like a special guy.

Yeah, you know...I have extreme loyalty to my regular vet. I've used him for both my dogs and my cat since I've lived in the area - so about 10 years. He saved Jerry's life when he was "headed towards the light." He's very supportive of rescue groups and does so much work for them at a discount. His prices are insanely reasonable. But I gotta admit I am miffed that he kinda just gave me Gabapentin and the other two drugs before that, and didn't suggest to check if it was an infection first. I know nobody's perfect. It seems like a basic thing though. Just need to be thankful that maybe the issue will finally be resolved. THANKS for the head's up on the nails thing. I will spray them and trim them pronto!!!
