We are beginning to relax and take some deep breaths. Blaze is home! So far he is managing ok. Poop and pee and lots of water! Lots of treats too! He is sleeping now. The healing can begin!

Great news, Mary! Blaze is peeing, pooping, drinking water, and treats, this is cause for real celebration!! Just take one day at a time, though, and take things slowly, let him sleep and rest as much as possible to heal better.....but you are off to a great start, and I am so happy he is doing so well.....!!

Home is the best place to be!

Sounds like Blaze is doing well so far, hopefully his recovery is uneventful.

Blaze has been sleeping like Rumplestiskins! He is just exhausted. Today he spent most of the day outside enjoying the cold air. He has always like winter and snow.  I know the pain meds cause drowsiness but I know he is in pain. My younger golden accidentally backed into his incision area. Oh my the yelp and growl! I keep reminding myself it's only been 6 days.

EXACTLY! Its only been six days and that is VERY early in recocery! And yes, the pain meds can make them drowsy..or sometimes the opposite and very anxious. If he's resting comfortably, eating, poopin, drinking, peeing then it sounds like his pain is pretty well managed...unless he gets bumped jnto by the youngster!!

Once the pain meds start being tapered off..per your vet...you'll see his energy level pick up. It took my Happy Hannah close to three weeks before I felt like her sparkle was really coming back. Blaze is a big fella and sometimes it takes a bit longer. Regardless, six days is still very early!

Stay connected...we're here!!

Hugs to all!!
