I was wondering how Bailey's surgery went today. I pray everything went well.

Ronnie's went very well and she is resting comfortably for the night.

Take good care..........

I think I already posted this to Ronni, but if I didn't it is for Ronni AND Bailey….get one of the ruff harnesses advertised here on this site…I cannot tell you how helpful it is….more than you would believe.  I would say ask the vet when is the soonest you can use it, my vet said right when I took Magic home (but he stayed at the vet and came home day 5 because of my physical problems), some vets prefer to wait til the staples are out.  But if your vet said start puppy classes right away, maybe they aren't the best to ask.

You will get the most invaluable information here and the most support….keep coming anytime you have a question and most of all to keep us posted.

Wow!

Thanks so much for your best wishes, prayers and thoughts! I'm so glad that Ronnie had a good surgery today! He and Bailey are surgery buddies!

Bailey had a lot of bleeding but is doing well, and the vet (the one that did the surgery, instead of the general vet) said after the surgery that he'll need 2-3 weeks, which matches your great advice. We will be able to pick him up tomorrow; they're watching him for tonight and tomorrow morning, and got word that he gets a check up in a week, and stitches out in 2wks. All of his meds are ready for when we pick him up. Thanks for posting the links – we're taking care of those modifications (and puppy proofing!) tonight and tomorrow morning. I will pick up a Ruff harness, and we're holding off on the puppy classes for a month or so. It's such a wonderful opportunity to help this little guy out – thanks for helping us help Bailey!

We'll post pics when we're able, and will keep you guys posted!

Thanks, and many blessings from us and Bailey!

Mike

PS: here's two older pics from the animal shelter during his waiting period (for the owner to claim him).

Yeah Bailey! I am happy to hear that all went well and on to recovery! Bailey and Ronnie are surgery buddies and will have to stay in touch. Ronnie is going great this morning and got up and went potty by herself! I am proud of her. I will get her later today. I did order her harness yesterday and i hope to have Ronnie back sleeping in our bedroom (upstairs) again soon! Thanks to the harness.

God bless you for bringing Bailey home and giving him a good home...............

Bailey might look a little wistful in one pic but that looks like a pretty happy face, to me, in the other!

Amputation's major surgery and I'm always happy to hear those words, "doing well."

Have a speedy recovery, Bailey!

Thanks all! It's wonderful to see your messages and your advice is great!

Things have been pretty hectic around here the last few days - in a good way! Bailey is now sleeping by my desk in his crate (for crate training, which he's taken to almost naturally), and he and Max, our Berner, are happily sharing potty places, food dishes and feeding times. Max is really laid back, and Bailey's happy to subordinate to the "incumbent", so all is really well.

Bailey barely notices the surgery and bounces around so that we have to plan ahead so he doesn't go bouncing at us at full speed - this little sweetheart doesn't have a "slow" button, which will be perfect for our activity level in the future, but currently is bad for healing!

He landed on the stump yesterday while on his leash, and we had a moment of pain there - we kept a close eye on the spot, but he's now OK without signs of pain. Today we're crating him and moving in and out of the room frequently to acclimate him and give him quiet time to heal; he'll get lots of time with us later today for lounging on the deck and family TV watching! He's such an angel, and we're so blessed to know him!

Thanks so much for your support! It means a lot to us to know there are many other folks out there with wonderful, well adjusted Tripawds!!!

Here are some pics of Bailey post-op:

Such a cutie! Even his snores are cute. He also POINTS! We weren't sure if he was a pointer or not until he started pointing at rabbits and quail that Max normally misses!

Best wishes,

Bailey and his family

Baily is a happy dog.  Duke came into our house and acclimated really well.  Trouble is the dominant dog and he defers to her.  They also share plates of human nibbles, but I feed them separately.  They share toys, and they both sleep with us.

Duke has even taught Trouble to 'speak'.  It didn't take but a time or two of her watching him get a treat for speaking and she popped her butt down beside him and woofed for her treat.  Too funny!

Hope you have many years of run times with Bailey.  He really is a pretty boy.
