Hi all just a bit of advice.

Back in January i took my dog Kizzy a 2 year old black lab for a walk along Victoria walk where i live and she fell down the cliff
The Coastguard had to come out and get her lifted up.

She broke her hind leg and a few other minor issues.

However long and short of it 6 months of operations and placing internal and external support frames came to nothing and ended up with a non union fracture so opted for amputation.

So more or less has been on 3 legs since then as not been able to use her leg but occasionally used it as a support

She had her operation on Friday however came home all going well then last night squealing and yelping for no reason, but i think it is because he tried to use the leg and it scared her that it was not there.

She has not going outside even for a pea even lifted her out with a towel under her and not interested and comes right back in which is not like her.

She is walking about when she wants to, it just appears when she looks for he leg is when the problem occur she is still eating and drinking.

Going to the bets later on today anyway but any suggestions?

Friday is not that long ago. She will need probably at least a good 12-14 days before she is back to her old personality. The pain meds really mess with their heads and their tummies, so she will probably not seem like herself until she is off them.

She screaming could be phantom pain . Lots of folks here had good results with Gabapentin for phantom pain . You might want to ask the vet about it.
Sorry you had to find us here, but you'll be glad you found us. I hope the rest of her recovery is uneventful!

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Hi there, thanks for joining us (sorry you had to!). I'm so glad to hear your girl made it through this awful fall!

Abby's Mom is correct, Friday is not a lot of time for any pup to start feeling better. Most dogs need at least one to two weeks for symptoms like this to subside (which is amazing considering how long humans take to recuperate!). If you haven't already, please check out our Required Reading List, which discusses a lot of symptoms and treatments to help your dog feel better. I hope this helps! Please let us know how she's doing.

Welcome Kizzy and pack!

I'm super sorry you had to join us!  What a terrible accident!!  Kudos to the Coast Guard!!!

Yes, for sure....give it time.  It's too soon to see!  But if don't see any progress in the near future, then jingle up the vet!

Good wishes!!!!
