On our way to get our Princess! Our house has definitely felt weird without her. Its too quiet. She's the barker in our pack of weiners. Everyone just seems lost without her. Our other female Reese kept placing pieces of food on the blanket Steve took with him when he visited Reign. So the entire household will celebrate when we get back! Thanks everyone for your kind words and advice!!

Princess Reign IS HOME!!! She was wagging her tail like crazy when she got to pee in her own yard. I'm still not thrilled with the drain but if it's helping her I will cope! They want us to track how much we are getting every time we do it (8-10 hours) As of now the drain will be in until Tuesday as always they are playing it extremely safe. The front half of her stitches are gone!! It looks so great!! My happy thought is its half way healed!! Of course since we are in the Reign roller coaster we had to have bad new too. The culture results finally came back. She has something that is not pretty much resist to antibiotics. Like an idiot I somehow managed to leave the paper work there so I don't remember the name. The drug they gave her is called Amikcin  and they only way to give it to her is in shot form. Lucky for Reign Steve has zero problems giving shots. The real fun is that he has to give her a fuild bubble first then inject the antibiotic. 1 time a day for 7 days. They gave her 1 while we were there to show him.  Of course this antibiotic can cause kidney damage so we go back Friday to have them test her urine to make sure every thing is ok. She's going to start hating the car soon! So I spent the hour and a half car ride trying to find whatever I could to be happy. 1 she's finally home!! 2 she no longer has to take the other antibiotics 3 my husband is the bad guy not me! 4 she will get to visit with the techs( they openly admitted they were sad she was leaving) 5 this is just another step in her recovery. I'm sure I had more but that's what I can remember!

The doctor called the lab about the pathology report and chewed the supervisor out since these results are taking so long. I should ( fingers crossed) get a call tomorrow with the results.  I know a Reign is strong and won't let this defeat her! She's ready to run!! Good thing her cone stops her from running or she would've been spiriting across the yard! Thanks everyone,  I will update when I have a free hand and maybe get some pics!

So happy....I've got tears in my eyes...the good kind...tears of JOY!!

And I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your optimism ! You, your husband and Reign make an UNDEFEATABLE TEAM!!

There IS a lot of good news going on here! And YAY for Steve for being such a good vet tech! clap

They've discovered the correct the correct antibiotic for her "issue" and she is, j deed, recovering...probably pretty rapidly now!!!

Yeah, you may have to "recondition" her to a couple of short car rides just to get a drive thru burger or soft cone!

The whole Tripawd Universe is applauding! Listen! No, that's not thunder! That's us applauding!!clap

Love!

lol THANKS! We were home maybe 20 minutes and we had a nasty thunder storm roll through so I love the idea it was applause for princess. She's out cold on the couch laying on the bad side! I'm shocked she's not snoring. Of course Steve remembered the name of the bacteria is klebsiella. I should've have known he would remember.

Sorry to hear that she had to remain at the vet mauch, but just remember she is in good hands, and you want what is best for her.  My thoughts are with you.

My husband left for work and Reign is not amused. I know she wants to be in her ( queen sized) bed but she's stuck with me on the couch. She slept really good with him earlier. 6 hours and I had to wake them up since she was due for meds. We are going to try it again in the morning so I can get some sleep.

Reign is doing really good! Eating and drinking as long as her cone isn't on. Her drain is doing its job. The most we've pulled from it is 4 mL and that was roughly 10 hours. I just hoping the new antibiotics aren't doing any damage to her kidneys but kicked the crap out of that bacteria! She didn't like her shot and of course she gave me the dirty look! Steve was the one that did it. So much for me not being the bad guy.

She seems so much more comfortable than before. She also isn't spending every waking second trying to get her stitches. We've actually had the cone off most of the day since we are with her. I'm sure that makes her feel better. She even got excited to see the little girl next door. She barked and put her front feet on the bottom of the fence! It's maybe 6 inches off the ground but she stood on her back leg! She was very tired after that couple minutes of activity but she's working out how to do things. She seems to have a harder time in the grass than on our wood floors. We cut the grass in the fenced in area extra short for her but it looks like it takes more effort. She FLIES in the house! My daughter didn't believe me until the gate wasn't up and Reign blew right by her. It's hard to not let her walk since she seems to be doing so well but I know more walking = more fluid.

Still no at home poop. I gave her a little bit of canned pumpkin so hopefully things will start moving. She is letting out some nasty gas so it's going to happen, I just don't want it to hurt.

Her pain meds are kicking in so it's time for a nap!

laughinglaughingSHE POOPED!!!!  she needed a little bit of help balancing but her first poop at home can be checked off the list!!!!! It's a good thing my friends and family understand since I texted everyone lol

I don't think the half a teaspoon  of pumpkin worked that fast so should I continue to give it to her?

I'm off to celebrate with washing laundry and taking a nap!

And we have POOP!!!! YAAAAAAAAAY FOR REIGN!!clap
And in my j unprofessional opinion, I would hold off on the pumpkin a day or two and see if she continues to have poop pawties.

SOOOOO HAPPY! Its just wo derful to hear how nicely she's recovering! What an insprational little gal! Tiny but mighty!

Cannot wait to see videos and more pictures! A tripawd Miniature Doxie...it doesn't get much cuter than that!

You two are terrific devoted advocates for little Reign! Whole lotta' love going on in that family.

Hugs to all!

We have had another poop! I swear she did it just to annoy my husband since he had already left for work lol. So that's 2 in 24 hours and I'm pretty proud of her. We have had to rarely use her cone today since she only attempts to go after her stitches every great once in awhile and she seems to rest better without it. So as long as someone has an eye on her I'm not worrying about it. Reign even took her shot a lot better today.

Tomorrow afternoon we go back to have her kidneys checked so fingers crossed everything is normal and we just have to worry about her healing. I hope the doctor has her test results in so we can finally have answers to why this even happened in the first place.

I know I keep saying it but thank you everyone! Coming on here really helps and everyone is amazing with the support you've given me. I will update after her appointment

Awww another poop and another great day! That's fantastic. Sounds like she's definitely on the path to healing. Just watch her closely when she has that cone off. Dogs are so sneaky!

We hope the doc visit goes very well. Keep us posted OK?
