Max is right this minute walking around the backyard with my husband picking up poop!! LOL.....When we said "outside" his head popped up and he went to the door! This is the first time he has done this since the surgery. He still has been sleeping all day and wouldnt eat unless I hand fed him this morning, but this is a good sign. Tomorrow marks the day we stop the rimadyl so Im looking forward to seeing the results of that (as long as they are good..whew!) These first days have been hell and I so appreciate everyones stories and suggestions. Without them I do think I would have lost it by now. The next hurdle will be chemo (tue) so we will deal with that as well. Im cant tell you how relieved I am to see a glimpse of the old Maxi. What a wonderful feeling! BIG LABBY SMILES TO ALL!!!!!!!

BIG LABBY SMILES TO ALL!!!!!!!

Thanks! We needed that. The first week or so can be hell indeed. Just remember, it's probably harder on you than it is on Jack. He just wants to get off those meds and start feeling himself again. Then he can really show you ...

WHOOHOO!

So happy to hear that!  When I saw your previous post on Max's meds, I totally agree with Jerry, I think Max is still just in another dimension.

Tika did not take well to the Tramadol so we backed her off early.  As in, I offered her a treat and she was so nauseous she puked on my foot. She was also on Deramaxx, so we let that run the full course.

I bet each day gets better and I hope Max handles chemo like my monster dog did, Chemo-Schmemo, this ain't nuthin.  It was a balmy 65 degrees in Kansas yesterday so we went for a nice walk, it was great to see the big sloppy Malamute smile.

Hope all is well with everybody. Have a happy New Year!

Yeaaaa Max!!!  Smile  Keep up the good work Max and kudos to you mom (Paula) for being so pawsitive!  That is great for healing of course!  Isn't it so amazing to see our babies adapting so incredibly well?!  It inspires me beyond words!  Hope the chemo goes well on Tuesday as well!  Jake (also a lab) is going in for his third chemo treatment this Monday (if his bloodwork comes back okay that morning- his white counts were a little low last week so my vet postponed it another week).  The biggest hurdle with the chemo is getting them to eat something and being patient that their appetite takes a hit for about 5 days but the first 2 days are the hardest with Jake... usually boiled chicken and some broth is what he'll eat but I try many different things!  Anyway, keep us posted!  So glad to hear the good news about Max!  Smile

Way to go Max!!  We all know that point where things we used to take for granted (like going outside and walking around) become milestones to cheer.

Keep trucking Max

The first signs of personality returning are certainly reason for celebration!!! We're sooooo happy to hear that Max is doing better - those first couple weeks are certainly a living hell for us pawrents of these special and courageous dawgs.

Good luck with chemo pal - hope you do well 🙂

Max is back to his sleepy self today, but has been outside walking around and doesnt want to come in. Today is the last day of taking Rimadyl, so tomorrow it will be only Tramadol as needed. He doesnt seem to be in any pain to speak of. He gets up well and walks with no problem. We considered trying the stairs with him last night but decided that it would be best to wait until the drugs had completely worn off. Stitches come out on Tue and he will have his first chemo treatment.

How is Wrigley doing today?? Max sends some Labby smiles!
