Hello, I am new to this site, and also a new Tripawd mama. My 6 year old Bull mastiff pup had her front right leg amputated October 13th, and we are in the healing process. She is on so many meds, and has had both good and bad days. It's definitely a struggle, but I feel we made the right decision to end her pain from osteosarcoma! Any tips, or ideas on how to comfort her during healing will be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Hello! Her name is Carly. I have started a blog on here, but it is only the "About" section and 1 post. I'm not sure if I did it right so others can see it, but I hope so. Thank you for the tips and links!

Great!

It looks like you set up your blog with the About page as your home page, and one other page (with comments off) but no blog posts. Click the Help Videos link in your dashboard (or watch them here) for help getting started, or post in the Tech Support forum and we can schedule a time to meet in the chat room to help you out.

Most members set their blog as the home page. Pages are different than posts. Only blog posts appear in the Recent Posts widget throughout the Tripawds community, like at the top right of this page.

Hope this helps!

From on BULL MASTIFF mom to another..WELCOME!!!

Yes, I have had the privilege of being owned by four Bull Mastiffs (Cupcake, Twinkie, Happy Hannah and. now Merry Myrtle)!!

I'm already in love with Carly because I know she's a gentle snuggling lap dog who adores you!!

You DID make the right decision! I know it's hard to see that sometimes during recovery. In fact I second guessed my decision for the first three weeks! Happy Hannah (at the time 125 lb 8 1/2 yr. old) was not one of those that sailed through recovery. But once her sparkle started coming back bigger and brighter than before I was THRILLED with my decision!!

It is very, very early in Carly's recovery. For the most part, she just needs rest and short potty breaks. Keep her pain meds consistent, as It's hard for the pain meds to "catch up". Happy Hannah was on Tramadol, Gabapentin, Rimadyl and an antibiotic. How bout Girlie? How often are her doses? How much does she weigh? Eating, drinking, pooping, peeing okay?

Remember, Carly doesn't give a rip about any ole stupid diagnosis and could care less about the number of days on a calendar. She's living in the moment just soaking up all the loving and spoiling you are throwing her way!

Can't wait to see pictures!!! I never was smart enough to do a blog. But if you tap my avatar, you'll see a gazillion posts on Happy Hannah...who sent me Merry Myrtle after she transitioned to the Bridge...and then sent me a tripawd Coonhound rescue.

Stay connected! We are right here by your side!

Love and hugs!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!

PS..Happy Hannah and I had a GLORIOUS bonus time of over one year and two .months!!! G L O R I O U S!!!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Welcome!  i don't have anything to add because Sally covered it all but just wanted to stop in and tell you that you're in the best place possible for loving support. Sometimes it seems like the bigger dogs take a tad longer in their recovery but they do make great strides eventually. Carly is early in recovery and pretty soon all of her days will be "good" days!  Keep us posted on any concerns you have because there is a wealth of knowledge here.  We'll all be right by your side ready to help you!  Our Max is a 110 # German Shepherd who had surgery sept 1st and is back to loving life. He just finished his 2nd chemo with no problems. Week by week it only gets better!  Keep us posted on Carly's recovery when you get a chance we'll all be anxious to hear about her progress.
