Thank everyone!!!! So far - so good.  His ultrasound showed no significant masses - just normal “nodes” they think are in all older dogs.   He’s heading into surgery for xrays on the good hind leg is good.   Please keep sending good thoughts!!!  Surgeon said he cleared his full schedule today to take care of my Kipper

Surgery was a success!!! Kip did wonderful!! The bone was actually fractured so I made the right call!  Kip was sitting up post-op and the surgeon is going to call my again before he leaves the hospital for the night.

Wooohooo! Oh my gosh what a relief.

It's hard to imagine that a dog or cat can walk around on a fractured leg without much complaining. Can you imagine if one of US was trying to do that? I would be a disaster!

Animals are really amazing. I'm so glad Kip is doing well.

Kip stood up last night to situate himself!  Same day as surgery! I’m allowed to be proud of that right?!? And think he’s the bestest new tripawd in the world?!?  This must be what parents feel when their baby learns to walk haha!   Waiting to see how he did overnight (Surgeon said to call at 10am).  So nervous I cant sleep!!!   Surgeon said they used one of the drugs mentioned in the Tripawd book that’s a long last painkiller injected into the leg during surgery that seems to be a miracle worker.

You know it! smiley_clapYou will be even more in love with Kip when you see how resilient, strong and hoppy he is as a Tripawd!

I'm glad they used Nocita for his pain, that's pawesome. He's in great hands at that clinic as I mentioned. Keep us posted and if you want to talk I'm in the Tripawds Chat for a bit.

Kip is a Tripawd Champion!!   Yes indeedy. you should be proud as can be of your boy!!!!   We are too!!!

Sloooow amd easy is still the name of the game.  Now, sometimes  when all the hospital meds wear off in another day or two, there can be a vit of a crash, not always, but sometimes.

Good boy Kip!!

Yay Kip!!! I'm so happy to hear surgery went well and he even stood up on his own. That's impressive! I hope the night went well for him. I'm sure he's missed at home but he's in GREAT hands!!!

He’s doing well!  Walking ok with the sling and peed on his own.  I made the choice to keep him at the hospital another PM because we have house guests until tmrw AM.  I’m bringing him some food now to try to get him to eat. I feel awful but I don’t want any accidents / excitement for him coming home

Wise decision!   He's getting the care he needs without  any extra excitement.   Tomorrow  he can get your undivided  attention!👍

Let us know hos the visit goes with some yummy food.

Hi!! Got Kip home.   He is such a trooper.   Im

so worried he won’t be able to stand on three legs.  He is pretty woobly.  I haven’t seen him stand up yet bc I’m so nervous.

he got home and immediately drank and LOT of water and ate a fair amount of food.  He’s resting now comfortably but I’m so worried about the swelling.  I think the staples look good and clean.   Any thoughts?!  Do I try to make him go tinkle in a bit?!??
