Senior dogs are always special. But Tripawd senior dogs are even more precious! That's why we are hoppy to put the spotlight on one very special girl who joined our Forums over one year ago. Welcome to today's Tripawd Tuesday, Nova the Senior Bulldog.

Let's Celebrate Tripawd Tuesday. Nova is Our Hero of the Day!

Making the decision to amputate a senior dog's leg is a difficult one. But dogs like Nova show that there is hope for many better days ahead. It makes us so happy to see that her mom sent this story to us.

Nova knows how to live large on three!

How old is your Tripawd?

  • 11.5 years old

When and Why did your Tripawd lose a leg?

  • She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in January 2023 and had her surgery February 10th, 2023 and has never looked back she is very on the go girl

How did your Tripawd adapt to life on three?

  • At first it was a challenge but she figured out things that work for her and adapted to her new lifestyle than we did. She still does the stairs with caution but does them well.

What are your Tripawd's favorite things to do?

  • Play with her toys, go for stroller rides with mom, explore in the back yard, people watch on the front porch.

Is there any special gear that helped or helps your Tripawd?

  • She has a few harnesses and a gray guider with handles sometimes used but not as much now a days

Strong, resilient Nova.

If you went through amputation surgery recovery with your animal, what did you think would happen after surgery? Did your worst fears happen? How did you cope?

  • Nothing bad happened. Nova showed us how strong we can be. She coped and adapted better right off the get go better than us. We turned the living room into a make shift bedroom so she didn't try stairs till she was ready. After we she'd our tears we worked with Nova as she learned we learned and we cheered on even her smallest accomplishments

What is the biggest lesson you learned from your Tripawd?

  • How to be sooo strong no matter what is thrown at us in life

What is your best advice to someone who is about to go through amputation with their pet, or someone who is thinking of adopting a Tripawd?

  • Cheer them on always be pawsitive and supportive of even the smallest thing like standing or walking on their own even just a few steps it makes know and believe that they can over come this too

Wonderful to see Nova and her hoomans highlighted here!!!  I've been following Nova's journey  in the forums and have enjoyed cheering her on and celebrating  all her milestones.  She clearly makes the most out of every  moment and has let nothing hold her back!

Needless to say, she is very, very loved and has received  exquisite  care.  She and her hoomans have  provided  so much inspiration for anyone starting this journey.

BTW thoroughly enjoyed the photos.  The one with her relaxing in the water with her reflection......BEST  PHOTO   EVVVVER!!!!

Hugs
