Oh, Kim, I am so sorry you had such a difficult weekend.  You have done a fine job of offering Tika the best opportunity she could have to beat this disease.  Bravo, to you for that courage and strength.  You have my thoughts and support as this new leg in the journey materializes.  Thinking calming thoughts for you, healing thoughts for Tika, and sending lots of strength for both of you.

Kim -  I am sorry you and Tim and Tika are having a hard time. Since I joined tripawds your family and Tika have always been the adventurous ones, setting out on one great expedition after the other, and it is great everything you have gotten out and done. She has been having (still is) so much fun. But somedays, like now I'm sure, all one can think is that 'It just is not fair', but we can't do much about that part, can we?

A Tiger - now that is something you won't forget anytime soon.

Bazooka Puke? I might borrow that phrase sometime.

Dear Kim,

I am so sorry that you had such a horrible weekend.  Please don't be hard on yourselves.  You and Tim have done everything you could for Tika.  It is my hope and prayer that Tika has rebounded since your post.  You have been a wonderful mother to Tika.  Don't ver doubt that.

Debra

P.S.  Thank you for posting the x-rays but I am sorry you had them to post.

I, too, thank you for posting the x-rays.  I find that it's easier to deal with when you know what it looks like.  Like when we found the bump on Jack's wrist, I actually felt more comforted when I could touch it and see how big or small it was.  Crazy, I know, but whatever makes you feel better, right?

Hello Everybody:

Thank you for your wonderful support.  We've been such a mess the last few days.

However, I am very happy tor report that Tika has made a remarkable rebound in the last 12-18 hours. (Tika says: Yeah, if my parents just bug off for a bit and let me sleep, sheesh)

The best part is that she's back eating and keeping it down, I did a thorough check of her leg and I think she's either pulled her groin muscle or thigh or both, which the way she was tearing about this weekend, I wouldn't be surprised.  No looseness in her joints thankfully.  I have been doing light massages on that leg every few hours to help keep the muscles warm and loose and Tika seems to enjoy it.  I know it gives me peace.

This morning she was laying at the bottom of the stairs with a alert look on her face and wagging tail, YAY.  Considering yesterday morning she looked like she would sign off at any moment it was miraculous to me.

Dr. Kim Selting at the Univ of Missouri Vet Hospital has been incredibly awesome and keeping in touch with us. She even responded to us on Sunday when we panicked about the coughed up blood drops.

So everything continues to improve, we will start with the Palladia and try the inhaled chemo if it seems to helping.

Thank you so much everybody---I'm sure I was completely overreacting to everything, but I felt so helpless, then I felt like I caused her pain.

Tika says: I'm not done yet, tell mom to chill out, will ya?  I am the great Nordiclight's Tikaani Spirit (Tikaani being an Athebascan word for wolf) I have the heart of a lion, the strength of an ox and the stubborness of a mule. I'll be OKAY!

Cheers everyone.

PS--For anybody in the Midwest area, we have been really impressed with the University of Missouri Vet Hospital--even if it is our university's rival!--they also just opened the Barkley House which is modeled after the Ronald McDonald House.  A place for you and your pet to stay during treatment or recovery.  http://barkleyh.....souri.edu/

Hi Tika and family

So happy to hear your news. Our parents moods sure swing with our ups and downs, don't they?!? As you say, just Chill - I don't think my mum will ever get the hang of that idea. In any case, we understand why she felt like a wreck this weekend and so happy things are brighter now.

That hospital and the Barkely house sound fantastic - sure wish we had something like that. In any case it is great to know that we are getting more and more of the attention they deserve.

I'm glad to hear that Tika is doing better.  What a rollar coaster ride this fighting cancer is.  Keep fighting Tika.

So glad that Tika rebounded!  I definitely can't imagine that you had an over-reaction at all.  That was a scary list of symptoms, but you all got through it - you're amazing!

I also found it useful to see the x-ray.  Thanks for sharing.  It gave me something to compare my memory of Yoda's x-ray from three weeks ago to, when Yoda's mets first showed up.  I haven't noticed any changes in him yet, even though the oncologist prepared me that he could have started showing effects by a week ago, but we're still livin' it up!  The only change I've noticed is lots more tail-chasing.  Speaking of which, I better get him out on his walk - the poor boy is so frustrated with me.

I have a hard time keeping up with everyone on these forums. I'm sure there's an easier way to do it, but I'm not as technologically advanced as I could be!

Thank you, Tika, for your strength and beauty. You show us that it can be done. Thank you to Tika's parents for being so thorough in their discussion of treatment plans and options-it helps the rest of us sort through the stacks of information and you make your little corner of it very understandable. I enjoy reading Tika's stories, when I find them. I also enjoy keeping up with Tika, as Caira Sue is on her 6th week of inhaled Gemzar treatment. I'm interested to see how this goes for anyone else who is attempting it.

Thank you for posting the x-rays. I think this makes it more real for the visual learners among us. My husband never understands until I can show him what the doctors are actually talking about. I'm a RN, so I've seen too many ugly tumors on x-ray. I never want to see them on Caira Sue's x-ray-but then I never wanted to see an osteosarcoma tumor on her x-ray either.

I have found that whatever time we have is a great blessing. I have been taught by Caira Sue to truly enjoy every moment with her. Of course, that makes me worry every moment that she doesn't seem "perfect." I totally undertand why you flipped that day. I would have been right there next to you, flipping out too!

Anyway, I wanted to say that I'm glad I found your story again and to thank you for posting. Tika is a beautiful girl.

Sure you are, you're here, right?! (and we are so glad!)

Do you use a Reader, like Google Reader, which is basically an online newspaper which contains all of your favorite blog and forum posts?

If so, all of our Forums have a blue "RSS" button at the bottom. You can either subscribe to all of the Forums via RSS, or individual ones. Then, when you go to your Reader, you'll see all of latest Forum entries listed there.

And if none of this makes any sense whatsoever, let me know OK? We're here to help, just PM us!

Ok, I've just signed up (I think) for google reader. And I subscribed. We will see if I can figure that out!

What's a PM and how do I do that?
