Some of you older folks may remember Red Ruby the Nova Scotian Duck Tolling Retreiver from Colorado 2 Years ago. We hung out for awhile but life happens and away we went. God Bless the constants on this site and all the help they gave to us during our time of need. I’ll try to post some photos tomorrow of the great life that Ruby has led since her left front amputation. It’s been a great 2 years. She moved from Boulder to downtown Denver where she’s become a famous Tripawd in the Cheesman Park area. Kacy (Ruby’s Mom) has graduated the accelerated Masters Program she started the WEEK of Ruby’s diagnosis and treatment. She’s working for a nonprofit now for Single Moms struggling to get in their feet.
so now the bad, when Kacy got home today she found Ruby bleeding profusely from the nose. After a few hours it didn’t stop so they took her to an ER where they figure that it’s a Nasal tumor which isn’t good at all as they are inoperable. So a CT is scheduled and we will see.
So if you remember us from befire great. We have a blog with pictures somewhere (I still can’t figure out this site)lol. Just know that even if this is a tumor we would NEVER trade the two years (Age 8 and 9) that we’ve had w Ruby. She’s inspired many others and will always be my daughters “heart and soul”dog (you know there is only one of these that comes along in our lifetimes.
So if anyone is On the fence, go for it. It’s a lot for them (and you) but in many cases they have a lifetime of love after their surgeries.

Sad to hear this update. But Ruby's such a fighter I'm not counting her out yet and praying for slow growing and Ruby staying around a bit longer yet. Sending prayers and much love Ruby's and your families way!

For whatever it's worth, I was owned by my Bull Mastiff (Twinkie) who had a nasal tumor. Just like Ruby, it started with a nose bleed. She maintained a good quality for many, many months. This was many years agai. At the time, I don't believe any treatment options were offered. During that time she also developed bloat and was "saved" with surgery. There was an underlying question at that time whether to pursue the surgery, as she already had the nasal tumor. She handled the surgery like a Champ and continued with no obvious problems with the tumor for quite awhile!
Also, and apologies because the name fails me right now, we have a recent tripawd here who, if I recall correctly, has held nasal tumor at bay for over a year...maybe more. Hopefully someone can come along and find the thread.
Ruby is such an inspiration to us all! You've provided so mich hope and encouragement to newbies. And that's a beautiful legacy for Ruby and her hoomans who love her❤❤❤❤❤❤
And congrats to your daughter for all her accomplishments!!!! You three are quite a team! And we're still cheering for TEAM RUBY!!!😁

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Lisa, Kacy and Ruby, we are heartbroken and so sorry. That is not the kind of news anyone ever expects, our hearts go out to you all.
Ruby is such a strong, amazing girl (wonder where she gets it from? 😉 Whatever path she hops down next, it will be with courage and beauty, just like her.

On October 27, 2016, nearly 6 months after amputation, and 18 months since his cancer likely started, we lost Pofi to a recurrence of Soft Tissue Sarcoma in his spine quite suddenly. His canine sister also succumbed to cancer on March 1, 2019 - we lavished her with our love in the interim, but life was never quite the same without her only real canine friend. Cliff kitty had to leave us, too, suddenly, in August 2019. Lucia kitty grieved all these losses, but helped us welcome two new Lurchers into our home and our lives, Shae and Barley.

I am so happy to hear you had a marvellous two years and hopefully still a long time to celebrate.
I don’t have any experience of nasal tumours but as Sally says she and others have dealt with it so I am hoping and praying this will be the case with your sweet girl.

Eurydice 77kg/170lb Great Dane limping end of April 2016, amputation (right front leg/osteosarcoma) 4 May 2016 6 courses of carboplatin followed by metronomic therapy, lung mets found 30 Nov 2016. 3 courses of doxorubicin, PET scan 26 Jan 2017 showed more mets so stopped chemo. Holistic route April 2017. Lung X-ray 5 May 2017 showed several tennis ball size mets, started cortisone and diuretics. Miss Cow earned her XXL silver wings 12 June 2017, 13 months and 1 week after amputation and 6 1/2 months after lung mets, she was the goofiest dawg ever and is now happily flying from cloud to cloud woof woofing away :-)
I remember you as well! I remember the picture of Ruby in the wagon 
It's what I thought about when we borrowed a wagon to pull Cassie around the neighborhood this time last year when she was having trouble walking. She was so very happy, so thank you for that idea!
I'm so glad that you & your daughter have had so much quality time with Ruby!

Murphy had his right front leg amputated due to histiocytic sarcoma at 7 years old. He survived 4 years, 2 months & 1 week, only to be taken by hemangiosarcoma at 11 1/2 years 6/12/17

I remember you too! One of the oldies but goodies around here. So sorry to hear this new challenge, but maybe, like what Sally had with her dog, she can get through this too. Nitro 11 1/2 yr old Doberman; right front amp June 2014. Had 6 doses carboplatin, followed by metronomic therapy. Rocked it on 3 legs for over 3 years!
