My dog Charlie Brown has been fighting vasculitis since he was two. He is now four and only getting worse. He has sores all over his body including his eyes, nose, and stomach. This all started in his rear left leg and its so bad now that he hasn't used it in a year. Just a week ago we were discussing amputation but they do not believe with his immune system being so low due to all his pills ( close to ten a day ) that he will be able to recover. So we have fit him for a brace and hoping that will help him use his leg more. We live in Colorado close to CSU vet which is one of the most prominent schools in the US, and they still are struggling with fighting this disease. I'm starting to feel very hopeless and just hoping for some advice.
Welcome Charlie Brown....what a great name. Unfortunately I don't know anything about vasculitis but I'm sure someone will chime in here who has had some experience with what sounds like an awful disease. So from what I read it is an autoimmune type of disease? Poor guy. It sounds complicated and painful. Sounds like you are at one of the best care facilities in nation for him. I hope the brace will help him use his leg more and they can figure out the best way to fight this awful thing. I will be praying for him and your family through this rough time as I know how hard it is to watch your dog be in pain. My thoughts will be with you and hopefully the vets will come together for some good plans for Charlies recovery.
All the Best

I'm sorry, I don't know anything about vasculitus either. Hopefully someone here will. That is great that you are near CSU - but, yes, that must be so frustrating that they don't have good answers/options for you.
I will be sending out pawsitive thoughts for you and Charlie Brown that they will find a way to help him.
Hang in there. All the best,

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Welcome Charlie Brown, I just responded to your other post.
Putting on my moderator hat, can we delete this post since it's a duplicate? It will get rather confusing.
