Nova looks like she is doing remarkable. I noticed on your blog about the soft lump (almost looks like a hernia or breast) keep an eye on it. My bullmastiff Titan had a seroma . He had some swelling and skin that looked dropped right around the same spot. It has got alot better. I think it is gravity (great as a woman what I have to look forward to) but also remember that tissue and weight need to readjust. Titan's is about 98% better. He got his amputation 8-4. It took about 2.5 months to look more normal there. Titan was 135 pounds prior to amputation so these guys have more adjusting to do with their big muscles. I am so happy for Nova. Just watch she is not doing too much. Not to mean you want to discourage her but seromas (fluid build up) are common. Be careful with the warm compresses the vet tech told me to do that. After about 3minutes the seroma popped it was disgusting. I had to bring Titan back to the vet and they had to keep him overnight to do some restitching and put a drain in. Give Nova a big hug and kiss for us.

Oh yeah Sue it looks like we have alot in common I am a ReMax real estate agent too. I saw you got Larry the Lobster in Boston. I am near Portsmouth, NH if your ever back in the area let me know. I would love to meet up with another giant breed tripawd. And it is too funny that Novas friend Annie is a mastiff. She has the same coloring as Titan.

Heidi and Titan... It's so weird, Nova's seroma is almost gone. It just disappeared and is not all droopy anymore. A little bit of bruising, that's all. She had a lot of activity yesterday (with a visit to Annie's and to the Dr., plus a long car ride) and she is totally zoning out now.

Jake and Sherri... I really hope that Nova makes it to the next Cross Country season. From the other stories I've read I think her chances are good. I have been thinking (once she is moving around better) of her becoming a therapy dog. I think a 3-legged dog with cancer would be an excellent friend to kids with cancer. I've always wanted to do that. I want to get my healthy Dane involved too.

Thanks all, for reading the blog. It's probably overdoing it, but to me it is very therapeutic. Also, I hope to create something that will be a nice reference for someone else to read through when it happens to their dog. It is so helpful to know that Nova is not the only one with all these ups and downs.

Dane Mom Sue at nova.tripawds.com and Mom to Beautiful Great Dane Queen Nova, a Blind Tripawd, who kicked cancer's butt from 11/08-03/13. The Queen is Spirit Nova now, but her legacy lives on here at Tripawds!

Nova girl you get plenty of rest. Titan I are training to be a therapy dog. We are attending the good citizen class. Once he passes that we have to get in touch with a therapy organization to see what test he has to pass. I donate to miracle network for remax so my goal is to be able to take Titan to one of their hospitals. I would like to take him to Boston Childrens hospital 2x a month.

I think the blog is great. Our vet told us to put Titan down because the cancer is aggressive. If you saw how happy he is you would understand why I did my own research. I am so happy I found tripawds. It is important for pawrents to see the process and how well a dog can recover. So I think it is great you are allowing us to share Nova's experience with you.

Take care

We've been checking on the Nova blog and you have a great thing going on over there.  We're enjoying reading it very much.

Thanks,

If you need any grimper booties for Nova let me know. I tried them on Titan 2x but he hated them. Let me know I can send them to you. They are ruffwear XL. I need a big doggie to fill those booties. You can measure Novas paw on the width and I can tell you if they will fit. Happy Holidays just read your blog and sounds like you are doing great.

Love
