Oh my goodness. brownies banner just popped up again!  Almost Everytime I log on.

This house came with a small bedroom and a very large bathroom and closet .

Kenzie's crate is still set up even though she hasn't used it in months. I pointed and said crate. I guess she knew I was serious cause she went right in. Then max, sassy and I sat around the crate. The only thing I could think about was I forgot Brownie's remains, but I didn't want to leave my dogs to go get them.  Thank God they are ok. The wind was so hard it sounded like something was hitting the house over and over again. My wooden swing was on its side but that is nothing. A neighbor helped me pick it up. Stop signs were pulled out of the ground  and a few trees down.

Kenzie does have some good qualities. She is smart as a whip. Probably too smart. She is also very loving. But when you take something away from her and tell her no she will give me a "go to look". Her and Brownie are totally different . To tell you the truth I'm glad . There will never be another Brownie and I have accepted that. With that being said, there will never be another Kenzie, Max or Sassy. Each dog is their own just like humans.

As I said when I first got Brownie he got himself in quite a bit of trouble but turned out to be one of the best dogs and I know with some, well maybe a lot of work so will Miss Kenzie😀

My Beautiful Beloved Brownie was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma on February 26, 2019.  With all odds against him he lived an additional one year and eight days with amputation, love, and prayer.  I was honored to be his mom, and I have never been so proud!  He will live forever in my Heart!

Bo is the chewiest dog I have ever had the pleasure to have as a family member. Mitchell was a sneaky shoe chewer when he was younger. I remember buying my husband this super nice pair of leather dress shoes for work. I was so thrilled because I had got them for like 50% off or better. He wore them once and set them aside when we got into the house. I guess he forgot to pick them up and we left the house at some point. We came home and one of the shoes was totally degloved!! I almost didnt realize it was a shoe, lmao. Not funny then but I laugh now icon_lol

Rosie was an electronics hound. She chewed my TV remote 3 times.... each time was in like 1000 pieces. The first time, I came home and she was so proud of herself... my jaw dropped and I was just shocked. The second time (yes I should have learned to put it higher up) she beelined straight for her kennel and I knew something was wrong, hahah! After that I made sure they were almost too tall for me to reach, heheh.

Unlike everypawdy else, Bo LOVES chew toys. He does not just like them... he herds them back and forth across the house all day long. He chews on one for a while, then goes to get another. He will change again and drop it on my lap so we can play tug of war... he is a total hoot!

I am relieved that you and the furbabies are all fine and no major damage was done. I cannot even imagine the storm being that loud and close! I saw one 'funnel cloud' in my life and it put the hair up on the back of my neck. I wasn't even home and it scared the heck out of me. Sending you guys love, hugs, belly rubs to the puppers sp_hearticon2

Hugs,

Oh my gosh Jackie. I totally forgot about Kenzie chewing the remote as well as Brownie. Lol. I guess dogs think they taste good. I do know they like to chew anything we touch because they smell our hands. I guess our hands smell good. Lol

Hi All,

I am having a little dilma with Little Max and thought some of you might be able to help.  As some of you know Max and Brownie were always close, and Brownie would of given his life to protect Max.  But Brownie and Max are tottaly different.  Max loves attention from anyone!  Loves going to the vet.  He marches in wagging his tail like he is saying "Hi, I'm Here!"  Loves going to the groomer.  Max is totally different from Brownie.  But since Brownie has passed he is acting like Brownie.  When I take him to the Vet he now growls, pulls on his leash, tries running to the door.  I dropped him off at the groomer this morning.  He loves his groomer.  But today he pulled, growled, and then froze.  When the grommer picked him up Max snapped at her, which he has never done!  Do you think he thinks he is not coming home because Brownie didn't come home?

Any thoughts?

So sorry to hear that Max is having a hard time. I wonder if Max is having some issue that he hasn't made known to you yet. Has he pulled a leg or does he seem to be sore anywhere? And after all this time since covid I wonder if it isn't that maybe it is separation anxiety in some form. You used to work outside the home, yes? I know Bo gets more anxious if he is left alone now. I am just throwing those out there because they are the first things that popped into my head. It will be interesting to see how he is when he comes home from the groomer and see how he behaved once you left.

Sending hugs sp_hearticon2

Hey Jackie, no Max is fine at home.  Runs around happy!  He has a little stifness in the back due to age, but doesn't stop him at all.  It started when Brownie passed.  I just really did not give it much thought until today.

And to throw out another thought, I'm more inclined to think he had a bad experience at the groomer unnoticed   Although he certainly loves that particular groomer,  it doesn't mean that something was accidentally done that hurt him while grooming, or picking him up, or whatever. It could also be that some other dog at the groomer frightened him and no one really noticed, or something like that.

Same thing about the vet. Something very unintentional could have happened there where some little thing caused him a notch. Maybe a vet tech pull too hard on the leash, or he got a jab that hurt, or something like that.

Also, you mentioned the stiffness in the back. The way the groomers are the Vets pick him up maybe at some point cause some pain and he is relating that to them.

Just throwing stuff out there. But I really don't think he's relating Brownie not coming home as far as his own trips to the groomer.  Cant imagine that connection.....then again, who knows?

Certainly you know your Max  and his relationship with brownie better than anybody. So who knows, it could be what you said just seems like there would be some other cause maybe is Jackie outlined above.

Do you think it has anything to do with having that fiesty  cutie Kenzie in the house and having to keep he and Sassy  separate now and their daily routine changed a bit?    Or fid it start befor then?

But if you took key and Sassy together to the groomer, or the next vent trip, or where ever. I don't know how Sassy reacts but maybe that would give him a sense of security if there is some sort of anxiety issues going on.

Dog certainly know how to keep our lives and pristine and we wouldn't change it for the world

Sending lots of love to you and your crew♥️

I'm not really sure.  Max acted that way at his normal vet who he has always loved.  Then I tried a new vet and he did the same thing.  I don't know what is going on in that little head of his.  But as I said at home he is happy and just fine.  I also tried his old groomer and a new groomer and he acted out at both places.

This started a little over a year ago before Kenzie and Max had their argument.  lol

I was definitely thinking along the lines Sally pointed out after I hit send too. Sometimes just the smallest of experiences go a long way and if he had something happen at the vet or groomer maybe it stayed with him. He might have wiggled for a shot or somebody grabbed him the wrong way? Having him his happy old self at home makes you wonder more about those things. I am curious to find out how his visit went today. Keeping fingers crossed for you sp_hearticon2

Hahaha....maybe Max is channeling  Brownie and trying to protect YOU from the groomer and Vet. Once you leave he thinks your safe and can go be his happy self

Hey Nancy nice to hear from you!

Well that's a tough puzzle you've got there. The only thing I can think of is that either 1) something happened when he was left in somebody else's hands when you weren't there, or 2) he is resource guarding you from others? Does he do that when any friends come over the house?

So the groomer thinks that since Brownie and Max was together 24/7 for over ten  years, and Brownie is no longer around to protect Max, that Max may be feeling insecure.   She also said when I left he was fine.

Max is fine with other people when we walk the neighborhood and such.  I think he just doesn't want to be left anywhere.  He saw me leave the house with Brownie and then come home without him.  I just don't know, but Max is home now, happy and showing off his new hair cut.  He smells alot better.  lol

Well leave it to the groomer, that sounds like it totally makes sense! Glad that he's otherwise taking life in stride, and home with a new haircut!

Now don't forget to update us on Kenzie too!
