It started one day when I went to let the dogs in. Jed was laying in front of the door and spun around really quick and hard and yelped. HE came in and his leg was just hanging there limp and I knew it was broken. Took him to the vat and was told he had broken it in three places basically shattering the bone and breaking the ball of of the large bone. Vet put two large pins in but because of the way it was broken had to put smaller wires into the other side. Unfortunately it did not work and it was too badly broken they had to amputate. My only concern was he was not in pain or going to suffer.
Jed in his cast, why pink???
After he healed took him out hunting several time for short little jaunts and he did better the I thought. here is the first Quail he pointed and retrieved all on his own.
Here he is just a few days ago in the yard as happy as a clam. he doesn't know or are that leg is gone. He just wants those wabbits that live over in the next yard.
Ripping around the yard having a good old time.
Jed Pre Surgery in all his glory. He will be back and as good as ever.
Good to meet Jed. It sounds like he is doing feel and adjusting to being a tripawd. Anyway, welcome and it is good to meet you.

Welcome Jed! Some great pictures you have there! I am sure you will be as fine a hunter as ever even with 3 legs!

Chloe became a rear amp tripawd on 7-29-10. Another tumor was removed on front leg 2-20-14. Found 3rd tumor on neck 2-2015, but she's still kicking cancer's butt at age 14. Chloe's blog
Hi Jed! welcome to tripawds. You are one fine looking dog, Im sorry you broke and ultimately lost your leg , but on the bright side at least you arent dealing with cancer like so many of the dogs here. what brought you to the site just out of curiosity? Nice to meet you and hope to hear more from you..

the monkeydogs only THINK they have invaded the tripawd state
Hey Jed, you're one cool dawg! Wow!
Sorry about your leg but we're glad you found us. Do the docs know why your leg broke?
We needed a hunting dawg here, cool. Looks like you won't have any problem getting back out in the field and chasing those wabbits! Can't wait to hear about all of your critters.

Well if it had to break at least it wasn't because of cancer, that's a relief. Jed's gonna git along just fine.
I would just be a little careful that he doesn't overdo it, especially during the first couple of months. He will do his best to keep up with the pack and that might not be such a good thing for his joints. Just monitor him if you see he looks too tired.
That's a mighty fine lookin' pack of dawgs you got there!
