My Molly is a 8yr old Staffie and had her front right leg amputated 12 days ago. She had been diagnosed with a cancerous tumour in her paw that grew very quickly and she was suffering with alot pain. She has done very well since having it removed and got up and walked around after 2 days, and has been running around of field last 2 days, she does get tired very quickly though, but is enjoying life again. I was absolutely devasted when the Vet rang me to tell me the bad news.

Yep, you gotta wait on the bath giving! I'm not a knitter or a vet. But I do know from bringing home newly spayed and neuter shelter dogs - that they tell you to wait 10-12 days after surgery to bathe them EVEN THOUGH they are nasty dirty from the shelter!
Even on personal human surgeries, the dr. said after the stitches were removed to wait a little while longer - like 5 days. The water can cause an infection.

She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Hi Whiskey, you have come to the right place for support and information. Walking on 3 legs is a breeze for dogs. They are absolutely amazing. While I'm sorry you are here it is nice to see another Aussie!
Magnum: 30th May 2002 to 5th May 2012. Lost her back left leg to osteosarcoma on 5th Sep 2011. Lung mets found on 20th Mar 2012 but it was bone mets in the hip that ended her brave battle. Magnum's motto - "Dream as if you'll live for ever, live as if you'll die today" (James Dean). Loyal, loving, courageous and spirited to the end. My beloved heart dog, see her memoirs from Rainbow Bridge ...... http://princess.....pawds.com/
Welcome to you and your mom and welcome to the tripawd club! Tripawds rule! I'm a front leg amp. I felt soooooo much better on day 13 when my staples were removed. They were uncomfortable and I just laid around and wasn't even hungry....and I was a 2 year old lab when I had my amp.
I has OS in my left front leg (proximal humerus) and I had my leg and scapula amputated. I did 5 rounds of carboplatin chemo and it didn't affect me at all! 🙂
Sending lots of positive thoughts and prayers to you for a super speedy recovery! You'll be running and playing soon!
Hugs and chocolate labby kisses,
Charley (and my mommy Ellen)
