OTIS!!!!! Time for PWESENTS!!! Time to slobber your thank you notes to TeamTufts. Time to pack those pink elephants up and go on the road!!! Otis, you get to go hooooooooommmmmmeeeeeeeeee!!!! You show them how it's done Otis: call your chariot and be prepared for the GREAT OTIS SHOW ON THE ROAD!!!

So happy to hear how well that big boy is doing! Not using a sling is ahhhhhmazing! And he is so smart to walk and then lie down and try again at his own pace!!!

As for the pills, mmmmnnn. Poor CharlieBear is so good natured and has such a huge mug, I just open up his mouth and put 1-2 pills in the back of his throat, close his snout, and rub under his chin until he swallows. ( He has so many pills, I repeat this 2-3 times each time.) And THEN I give him treats or his breakfast or dinner. So he gets F U D but only after he eats his "spinach".

There are compounding pharmacies who may be able to mix a flavor in a liquid compound. ( I have a cat with a brain tumor who was on phenobarbital and we could have ordered tuna flavored pheno barb from a compunding pharmacy but chose to just mix the pill in her food rather than struggle with her head. Cats are notoriously mouth aversive after a period of time.) I know Jerry posted an excellent article about human versus pet pharmacies a day or two ago so you could likely find out more there.

Sooooooooo happy Otis is doing well and leading the charge. Hugs and PyrPaws all around!

WOW Otis! What a superstar! This is just the most fabulous news. I am really delighted for you. My tip re the meds is liver paté. It's so stinky, and so sticky and so delicious (apparently..), just stick the pill or capsule in the middle of a big blob and down it goes no questions asked. Works for us anyway. Tramadol is extremely bitter, and Meg would always spit it out, but the liver paté works a treat. I actually just gave her a Bravecto pill (which are HUGE) same way. Chomp chomp gone.

Good job Otis!

Mosby is the stinker who will only eat his pills in marshmallows - everything else he chews and then spits out (pill hiders, etc. etc.). The marshmallow he can chew, a little bit, but never hits the pill, and then he swallows it easily. My grandad's beloved black lab, Thor, was the same way, which is what gave me the idea. However, with his allergies maybe it's not an option for Otis.

Vet says he took all his pills there no problem.   They just put it on canned food. Ummmm he would never do that here. He can't even stand the smell of some pills. He'll sniff and sneeze and snort at them lol.

Otis - 121 lbs pre amp - 114 lbs post amp and now 118 lb Great Dane - English Mastiff X.  Started limping on 12/24/16.  Diagnosed with Osteosarcoma 12/28/16 - amputation of front left leg on 1/6/17.  Stitches out and 1st round of Chemo on 1/19/17.   2nd round of Carboplatin on 2/10/17 - 3rd round on 3/2/2017.  4th round was scheduled for 3/22/17 - however due to low WBC postponed - 4th Chemo completed on 3/28/17.  Had breathing difficulties, stayed in Tufts ICU overnight.  Due for 2 more rounds of Chemo but we are opting to go with homeopathy with Dr. Loops instead.
