Hunter had his 1st chemotherapy treatment on 6/13.  We just found 3 small pea sized lumps on his lower chest.

He did have a seroma for a few days after the amputation in the same area.  His oncologist said she's programmed to think it is metastasis in the chest.  Her vet tech said it could be anything.  They can aspirate them next Wednesday at his next chemo appointment.  If we don't want to wait that long, our regular vet can check them out for us.

Hunter does have 3 fatty tumors on his sides and I think this is how those started out.  But we've never seen multiple lumps pop up at once.  Could they be cancerous? Should we wait until next week, or get them checked out sooner?

Kind of worried right now!.......

Our Super Dog Hunter crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on a beautiful summer day in July, just 3 days shy of his 10th Birthday. He gave us everything since he was 8 weeks old.  Hunter was a 14 month warrior of OS.  We LOVE and MISS him every day.

Do they move around like the fatty ones do? I'm of the opinion if it is bugging you take him to your vet and have them aspirate them before next week. At least you will know. Hopefully they are just fatty!!!

Yes, you can just about grab them and move them around.  They are quite firm though.  Maybe we should go in this weekend....

Oh that is scary! But please try to stay calm. Many times a lump is just a non-cancerous thing. For your peace of mind you may want to go in sooner rather than later. Any vet can do this for you, onco or regular one. Good luck and keep us posted. give him smooches from us!

Thanks, I'll keep you all posted.

I didn't have the heart to put this on Hunter's blog as it's all been positive news so far.

Oh I know how that is! The worry that comes, especially after Hunter having been diagnosed with cancer. I had this happen to me too and luckily it turned out to be benign and I hope Hunter's is too. The lump was a singleton, and was hard like what you described. It was not attached to anything really. Just under the skin on her side. Here is the post on it. http://tripawds.....n-cadence/

We will have paws and fingers crossed at our house it's nothing. How old is Hunter? Some dogs start getting "lumpy" as they age, and unfortunately in our case, we have our pet's cancer diagnosis on top of it too. sad

Oh no!

Lumps and bumps scare the bejeebies out of me!  I'm a 'rush to the vet' type!  But that's me.  Done it a few times myself and it is usually quick and cheap.  I'm of the "knowledge is power" camp and ...........I have no patience.smiley

Will keep fingers and paws crossed it's nothing!

Great news!

2 of the 3 lumps on Hunter are just lymphomas... nothing to worry about!

The 3rd one just gave our oncologist blood... so it could be a hemangioma (blood blister)

Or her needle just got a blood vessel.

She's got all of his bumps documented on a body map now.

We are just to keep an eye on them for any change.

YIPEE!!

ok, we're guessing you mean two of the three are lipomas (fatty tumors), not lymphoma (blood cancer...) - and in that case YIPPEEE!!!  and a blood blister, that's the trifecta of YIPPEE!!  very good to be mapping the lumps and bumps, and keeping a watch for changes.

Hooray for fatty lumps! 🙂

Treats all around. (Becoming a fatty lump myself...)

Jackie, Angel Abby's mom

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!

This is great! (Although I was at first a little freaked out upon hearing "lymphomas".)

I love hearing good news like this. Extra treats at our house for everyone tonight.

YESSS! That is terrific news!

If you feel like taking the time to blog about it, I would go for it. That way, other pawrents can see that there are definitely ups and downs but most times there are far more ups!

Good for you for being vigilant. Cancer definitely teaches us how to do that.

Thanks everyone! I did finally add it to Hunter's blog ... you're right Jerry, ups and downs are part of his journey.

I've been able to stay mostly positive throughout, but I have been really stressed.
