Heee hee, silly Wabbit! We've tried to give our Wyatt lettuce before and he looks at us like "are you CRAZY?," even though he'll eat most other veggies.

Murphy didn't eat well while he was in the hospital. Not something that you usually hear about a Lab. After we got him home and back on his regular diet, he got right back to eating again. Could be that Dusty just thinks they aren't giving him the right things to eat.

Kathi and Murphy

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!

UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!

hi again

Deva wouldn't eat at all for a couple of days when she got home (yes cats are fussier, but I was surprised when she wouldn't even touch old tried and true favourites way-confused).

After pretty much attempting everything I could think of - I tried baby food (thanks to Kendi's god advice). Yep, thought that would work, but ...nope. I rang the vet and they suggested Nutrigel - this can be used for cats or dogs in recovery. When all else failed, nutrigel worked (it is a super concentrate full of nutrients for convalescent animals). This got her appetite stimulated and then we were away. After that, she would only eat ham, but eventually has gone back to some bikkies and wet food. Dogs usually have a far more solid relationship with food than cats, so I hope you don't have the same issues...

Lettuce? I have never heard of a dog liking that. Supercute laughing

Yay - your lil man will be home soon

Hugs

Treacy and Deva

The morning update continues to be mostly very positive.    He continues to move very well and is really yanking on the leash and pulling the staff around.  I think he so desperately wants to leave that he's trying to pull a jail break.    They removed his IV this morning to start to prep him for his afternoon pickup (around 3:30).    He's still not eating, but we'll worry about getting that solved once he's home.

I miss my buddy and can't wait to see him this afternoon!

Jill is a 9-year-old tuxedo kitty. She was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in June 2012 on her toe in her right hind leg. Her leg was amputated on 12/12/12 and she completed four rounds of chemo (2 of Carbo, 2 of Doxy) in April 2013. Dusty is home! All things considered he seems to be doing amazingly well. Certainly walking well .... Took him out a couple of times to pee and he was trotting around the yard. He's been drinking water and we got him to eat some boiled chicken. It's clear that he's in some pain and he's having trouble getting comfortable. Probably the biggest obstacle is the stupid cone of shame . Wow ... What a week.

Soooo glad to hear that you have your little guy home and that he is coming along well. Good for him on eating that chicken! And going out to pee...good job.

Jumping for joy in tripawd land! DUSTY IS HOME,!clap

Yeah, he may be fairly uncomfortable...maybe some whining...restlessness...ears pinned back...maybe a little shaking...all "normal". And maybe he won't nave any of that.

Every dog is different, but my Happy Hannah never needed the cone and never messed withnher stitches. Yo could try leavingit off while UNDER SUPERVISION jist to help him feel more cmfortable.

Peeng! Eating Drnking! WAA HOOOOOOOO and WOOF! WOOF!

We had a very good night last night.   Once Dusty settled in on the couch he managed to get himself comfortable and relaxed.    At bed time, we put him at foot of the bed where he normally sleeps and he slept all night - no whining or complaining. At one point he did jump up as if he was startled, but immediately settled down.

He's drinking plenty of water and we've been getting chicken and meds in him.     It's hard for him to wear the cone of shame - but he's a licker - he needs to wear it but we have been taking it off of him long enough to get a drink of water from his bowl.   He's still turning up his nose at his kibble but we're not at all concerned.

His franken-scar is quite horrific, however.      Lots of bruising and just really sad to see the scar where a leg used to be.
