Hello and thank you in advance for your help.  My 11 yo boxer was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma of his front leg near his ankle.  I don't feel that amputation is the right road for us.  I'm wondering if anyone can offer input regarding palliative radiation and if there is anyone can recommend a support device (other than a $750 wheelchair ) that can help him get around better and lessen a chance for fracture?    He's currently taking 4 types of meds daily for pain.

Hi Christine, welcome. Your future posts won't need to wait for approval so post away.

I'm sorry you got the diagnosis for your pup. Amputation isn't always the right choice for every dog, we totally understand and support your choice.

Here are some links about radiation therapy you can ask an oncologist about. Has your vet not referred you to one yet?

As for a support device, this is something you really want to talk to a rehab therapist about. Wheelchairs aren't always the answer as you know, so smart of you not to jump into that right away. Talk to a therapist, they can guide you in the right tool to help your boy (what's his name?) stay as strong as possible.

Please let us know how else we can help you OK? We are here for you and your pup!
