Please keep posting on Charliebear's progress.  Gabapentin was a life saver for Bandit.  Without it he suffered with phantom pain .  I hope they soon have a firm diagnosis so the fight against the big C can truly begin.  Take care, Deb and Angel Bandit.

Thank you Deb and Angel Bandit and allbig-grin. We are in a holding pattern until UGA has a chance to review everything again (and likely consult out). As soon as we hear, we will be back to update. The good news is that lots of painkillers do seem to be helping! He was almost a normal Bear last night what with him stealing the horses feed and woofling all nightbig-blink.

Thank you for the link:) Very helpful AND Pofi's mom and I will be speaking soon:) Amazingly, she had generously offered a harness which is how I originally found this site: Pofi continues to guide us- what are the odds that the reason we are here led us to the Angel Pofi and his mom? Thank you again!

That is the loveliest thought and made me a little verklempt.  Pofi always seemed fond of the big LGD type dogs when we met them.  And was always concerned if he thought any other dog was in distress or pain.  I remember walking him when he was still a teenager in our neighborhood and a dog that was in a vehicle was making some sad and mournful noises at being left alone and Pofi was just walking and looking up at me, like, "Mom, can't we do something to help?"

So, so glad to hear the increased pain med regime seems to be helping Charlie be a normal Bear again with the woofling and pinching some horse feed for a snack.

On October 27, 2016, nearly 6 months after amputation, and 18 months since his cancer likely started, we lost Pofi to a recurrence of Soft Tissue Sarcoma in his spine quite suddenly.  His canine sister also succumbed to cancer on March 1, 2019 - we lavished her with our love in the interim, but life was never quite the same without her only real canine friend. Cliff kitty had to leave us, too, suddenly, in August 2019. Lucia kitty grieved all these losses, but helped us welcome two new Lurchers into our home and our lives, Shae and Barley.

Angel Pofi and his Santa Mom Lisa sent an early Christmas present: we have a harness which helps Da Bear get into and out of the back of the truck! Woofles all around!!! ( And still waiting on UGA but they have sent out his images to his original surgeon who is now at Texas A&M). Da Bear is wishing tgat it would stay below freezing here and has gone back to being a good beady eyed polar bear. Love and hugs to all: will update when the Vet School has more info...

So happy Wonder Pyr CharlieBear is getting in and out of his truck with more ease and feeling more himself.  Sending woofles and some snow your way and looking forward to the opinions the vet school comes back to you with.
