My tripod Bella is at the vet office right with a nail infection that has been hanging around for a month now. Initially, they suggested we remove the very tip of her toe to remove the dead nail, but now they said it would be easier on her to remove the entire toe. It is a weight bearing digit, and I am kind of freaking out.

It's a long shot but... does any one have a tripod who is also missing a toe? Any help or advice on how you think her mobility would be/adjusting would be really appreciated.

Wow, I'm not a vet but that seems like a radical move for an infected nail. What have they been treating it with? And for how long? Is she in a lot of pain?

If I were in this situation I would get a second opinion from another vet at another clinic. Tripawds need all the toes they've got, if at all possible.

Thanks for joining us, your future posts won't need approval and will automatically appear. We look forward to hearing more about you and Bella. Why did she lose her leg?
