My 9 year old corgi had a rear leg amputation just over a week ago. After reading the gear blogs here I thought the Web Master harness could benefit us with the handle so I can assist him up from laying down or on stairs. It arrived today and he doesn't seem thrilled. He struggles to stand up and won't even attempt to do his business outside and I'm wondering if because of his long back and body shape that maybe it won't allow his back to bend enough to get in the correct positions. He's doing well adjusting to life on 3 legs and his behavior today while wearing the harness was not "normal" for the past week. I know this is day one with it, and I'll continue to introduce him to it for short periods of time, but just wondering if anyone else experienced an adjustment period with their pup or if anyone specifically has a corgi who uses the web master. Thanks!

Bogey, my 9 year old corgi. Right rear leg amputated 7/25/16 due to subcutaneous hemangiosarcoma. Now living life on 3 legs ready to enjoy the day.

It's still pretty early in the recovery from surgery.  Murphy doesn't wear his harness all the time - we just put it on when we go for walks or when we're going in the car.  I love the handle on the back for getting in & out of the car - I'm able to handle his weight by myself (he's about 50 lbs).  Murphy is a retriever-mix, so I can't help you with the corgi part 🙂

Oh boy, poor pup!

Well as you know, Corgi's are independent thinkers and from what I understand, pretty stubborn at first. Have you seen this blog post,

How to Make a Good Introduction to the Ruff Wear Webmaster Harness

We've had some reports of dogs being resistant, but not too many. Usually it's the Greyhounds that freeze up when it goes on.

I'm pretty sure that it's not so much the harness, but just his surprise at having to wear something. Try going verrrrrrrry slow and using lots of low-cal treats, I'll bet he'll adapt.

Keep us posted and let us know what does/doesn't work OK?
