I must admit that I had no knowledge of Tripaws - had never heard of the word before when we were in the situation to have to make the decision of amputation or radiation therapy for our Tibetan Terrier.  The one FB group I belong to has 5,000 members and other groups have over 1,000 members. I laid it out there and no one had an experience with a surgical tripaw! I heard nothing but crickets as a response. I wanted help, anecdotes, anything that could help me decide.

Now that we have our own new tripaw - one week post surgery - I am posting photos and videos every other day to help show people that this option is not cruel and unkind, but a great way to spend pain free time with your dog.  We were told that this is a cure for the fibrosarcoma that was on her leg.  If not, we will take each day as it comes and treasure the time we have had with her. At 11 yrs she has a good future.

After her sutures are removed we will start rehabilitation exercises with a Canine Rehab Vet.

Hi Cindy, welcome! Your post has been approved but in order to receive the most benefit from our community please consider registering as a member.

I'm sorry to hear about your pup but it sounds like she's doing great. What's her name? And how awesome that the cancer was contained to one spot. Do share some of those photos here, we'd love to see 'em!

We're so glad to hear you're doing rehab therapy with her. That is so important and helpful.

As you can see, we are definitely about education and information here in the Tripawds Nation. Since 2006 we've been providing help to pet parents all over the world. We have our own Tripawds Facebook Page with well over 10,000 fans (it's not a group), but 99% of our information and one-on-one support is here on this website and Forums. I'm assuming the groups you are referring to were not in reference to our community's page, since those groups forgot to include the "D" in TRIPAWD 🙂 So yay for finding us!  Be sure to Start Here to get acquainted with our community and let us know how we can help OK?

How is she doing, Cindy?  One week post surgery you should be over any crash due to the hospital meds wearing off.   She might still be sleeping a lot, but you will be amazed with the improvement you will likely see when the staples come off at about day 10.  Reach out to the community here with any questions or concerns.  We have all been through it!

Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016.  Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016.  Lung mets August 25, 2016.  Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016.   Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.

Wherever they are, they are together.

Hi Cindy ~

Welcome!  What facebook groups are you on?  I know for me, whenever I see someone post on Dogs with Cancer I refer them here, same with Bone Cancer Dogs.  But glad you have found us now!  Looking forward to pictures of your baby.
