So I’ve been doing a lot of reading and trying to figure out what the best food to feed my dogs. Nutrition seems to play a big part in a lot of things. So far I’ve read that adding blueberries. Carrots broccoli to their diet helps with lowering risk of cancer. Most kibble if not all are basically bad for your pets. Do you guys know what to feed your dog for a raw dog food. Right now I have this raw dog food from a meat market. I mix with his kibble. I think I’m going to cut out the kibble entirely. But idk how much or what to feed them. Also read beef wasn’t the best for dogs with cancer which I’m pretty sure the raw dog food is or at least it looks like it. Do you guys have any knowledge on this type of diet? I’ve also been looking on this fb page planetpaws seems to have a lot of info.

Annie you ask a great question! I felt totally confused when Jerry got diagnosed with cancer, and I just took the "try everything!" approach, which ultimately didn't serve him too well. He got sick once or twice, which weakened him while he was trying to fight cancer. So I encourage you to start very slowly when making any changes.

Since our Jerry had cancer, a lot of good information has come out about dogs, cancer and diet. And a lot of bad information has too, mainly from people who don't have a nutrition background or those who just want to sell you something.

It's always best to work with your vet to make sure that your pups are getting the nutrition they need. Vets LOVE it when clients ask for nutrition help and a good vet who doesn't have a nutrition expertise can refer you to one who does. Here's an article about finding a vet nutritionist:

What is a Vet Nutritionist for Dogs and Cats?

Meanwhile, the way we've cut through the dog diet confusion is by looking specifically for home cooked and/or raw dog cancer diets that have met the approval of vets with a nutrition background. Here are some that we've shared in the Tripawds Nutrition blog :
