You guys are going to be seeing a lot of me in the coming weeks ...
I've been hearing good things about supplements for OSA dogs, particularly "K9 Immunity ." Can anyone share their personal experience with this brand (or other supplements)? We will also ask the vet but I know not all conventionally trained doctors believe in complementary medicine.
Searching K9 Immunity online is slightly overwhelming ... there are capsules, wafers, etc. If you used this product or something similar, please share your story -- was it worth it or not? Which iteration of the product did you choose? Did you start before or after amp? Did you use the supplements throughout chemo (is that safe)? (We are expecting to go with carboplatin treatments).
Thank you for your continued guidance.
Karen
Six-year-old Ollie, a spunky, 55-lb. Australian cattle dog mix, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma May 1, 2015. Front right leg was amputated May 12. Did four rounds of carboplatin chemo treatment, ending Aug. 20. Lung x-rays still clear as of end of September. The rest of our story is still unfolding.
We're glad you're here and posting Karen, ask away! Hope you don't mind but since you asked about supplements I moved your post here.
After having success with K9 Immunity while our Jerry was on it, we are big advocates and feel strongly that it gave him a great quality of life. Here's a few blog posts which share experiences from others too:

Hi Karen! my experience with K-9 Immunity has been very positive. Johnnie is a 90 lb male Golden, and he takes 6 wafers of "K-9 Immunity Plus" (the all-in-one product) every day, three in the morning when he wakes up and three around lunch.
My perception is that is helped a lot during chemo, because after he started with the K-9 Immunity his white blood counts and platelets were always in the normal range.
We didn't use it before the amp because I only found out about the product after surgery.
We also give him Apocaps (5 a day, after 10pm, 4h after last meal).
hugs,
Daniela
Our awesome Golden Boy was diagnosed for OSA in April 2014 in the proximal humerus, front-leg amp on 05/20/2014. Finished chemo (Carbo6) on 07/10/2014. Ongoing treatment: acupuncture + K-9 Immunity Plus ( 3chews) and home-cooked no-grain diet. Stopped Apocaps because of liver issues. Liver issues: controlling altered enzymes with SAM-e and Milk Thistle. October 17: started having seizures. Taking fenobarbital for seizures. April 18: started prednisone.
