Oh sweet Deb..... I know how tough weekends are .... they were the worst. I am a runner so I could usually find peace in running but I didn't / couldn't run for the first 2 weeks after Shelby passed... I would start crying. And Shelby didn't run with me but it was a time when my head was free to think and that much alone time was too hard. I had great friends that took me out and tried so hard to distract me but like others have said - coming home to an empty house was just so painful.
I think you can't rush this ... you just need to let the tears flow and know that your heart will heal.
And the part about the stages of grief... yup... went through all that too. Time and time again... I still do now.

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
Deb I'm not positive but I bet Sally could do that. I'm like you no matter how many times I read the instructions I just don't get it 😩 Computer illiterate here! Try it send her some and let her know you don't know how and ask her to do it. On the plus side I could type 90 words a minute in high school. That and a buck fifty might get me a cup of coffee 😀

Okay, in no way shape or form EVER, EVER, EVER, feel like vy sharing yiur feelings, you are makning anyone feel bad. Sure, it doesn't feel good to see anyone hurting kike you are, and it doesn't feel good ro share our own grief some...HOWEVER,...and that's a BG HOWEVER....it ALWAYS helpsnall of us when we do!! We ALL learn something, we all benefit by everybody's post.OKAY????
And I even hesitated a bit sharing with yiu what I did, not because it didn't feel good, but because I didn't want you to feel bad!! You are so sensitive and kind to each of mus, I was afraid that woukd happen. Ane here's another BIG HOWOEVER....HWEVER, I WANTED TO (nit have to, okay?), I WANTED to share a bit of hiw painful it was and how I coukd relate, so you woukd see living proof that you DO move through it!!
I don't mi d "revisiting" it a hundred times if it helps you move through it!! PROMISE!!!! It illuminates Barney's lofe even more to know he may help you...just like we all help each other!!
I'll share one more little "pearl of wisdom" that helped. When those heavy thoughts start grabbing you and taking control...keep up and physically change your position...get out of a chair, walk from ine room to another, if you're taking a bath, bob up and down in the water! KIDDING on the bath thing! Jist seeing if you're paying attention!!! 🙂
As soon as you've changed your physical state, then do what you are doing, redirect your focus. For me, something that works EVERY TIME....get in an ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE!!!
Focus on anything and everything you are grateful for...feel it...embody it....breathe it in...smile ....no other thoughts can enter yiur mind when you are in a deep state of gratitude! PROMISE!!!! Boy, I have a lot of promises to keep!!

One more thing. You know how good it makes you feel if you can help someone or do something good for someone??? Don't deprive us of that same good feeling, okay? Let us continue to help you....because we WANT to!!!

OMD! Total cuteness alert! Absolutely precious! Such gentle giants! Love the soul in his eyes. Such precious memories he gave you to carry with you the rest of your life. Embrace those memories they will help you get through the harder times. Thanks for posting those Sally. We see firsthand what a special boy he was.

Deb, we have all been there with the what ifs, and whys, and guilt, etc, sometimes even now I wish I had done things differently with my Polly, but we can't go back and I think we all try to promise ourselves that we did do EVERYTHING we could with the circumstances we were given. Feeling so much fresh pain, it really gets so difficult if we add all the extra psychological baggage with it. Take your time to grieve, that is the most important thing.
Sally, thank you for posting these absolute wonderful pics of Zeus, he was a gorgeous Rottie for sure!!!!
