No one could have ever guessed how today was going to end.
My husband took our greyhound Boo to the park (her favorite place to be) while I was at work today. Everything was going fine, Boo and another dog were wagging tags and playing...then suddenly everything changed. Details are a little fuzzy but somehow Boo's back leg broke...VERY badly. (She had two in the back, one in the front). Fortunately, I was able to drop everything at work and go meet them at the park (just a quick 5 minutes away). When I arrive at the park Boo was calm and there was a circle of loving, caring folks surrounding her. One of them was even a Vet! They helped us get Boo into the car, and we drove Boo to the nearest emergency vet clinic (also just about 5 min away). We knew there was nothing we could do to save her, or the leg, so we said our goodbye's. The vet graciously came out to our car to help her over the Rainbow Bridge so we wouldn't have to move her again.
Needless to say, we are completely heartbroken, but are thankful that the end was quick, and we were all together. She was happy, and absolutely perfect to the very end. Boo lost her leg to osteo 2.5 years ago. During these years, this community has been so supportive, encouraging, and helpful. Thank you for sharing this journey with us. We will be forever grateful.
Boo became a Tripawd Warrior Princess on Sept 8, 2009. She crossed over the Rainbow Bridge 2.7 years later on April 29, 2012. Run free Angel Boo!
Amanda, I am so very sorry to hear this. Please know that my thoughts are with you and your husband in the difficult days to come. I wish you peace and comfort.

Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11. A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

Amanda, so sorry to hear that Boo has crossed the bridge. It is wonderful to hear that she was living life to the full right up to the end, every Tripawds dream. But, it still doesn't make it any easier when the time comes to say goodbye. Thinking of you.

Magnum: 30th May 2002 to 5th May 2012. Lost her back left leg to osteosarcoma on 5th Sep 2011. Lung mets found on 20th Mar 2012 but it was bone mets in the hip that ended her brave battle. Magnum's motto - "Dream as if you'll live for ever, live as if you'll die today" (James Dean). Loyal, loving, courageous and spirited to the end. My beloved heart dog, see her memoirs from Rainbow Bridge ...... http://princess.....pawds.com/
Oh, we are SO sorry to hear this! Our thoughts are with you. Rest in peace Boo.
Spirit Samson was Spirit Tripawd Daisys four legged "brother" and ruled as the self proclaimed head of the Monkeybutt Federations East Coast Division. Lady Chunky Monkey stayed from Oct 2011 and left for the bridge in Apr 2012. Miss Perdy is left and has some big pawprints to fill.

Oh, I am so very, very sorry to hear of you losing Boo. I know your heart must be aching so. What a sad, sad, sad day. At least Boo got to go to the park and do the thing he loved. I think we all would want that. It's a little comfort.
My deepest condolences to you and your family during this so very sad time.

Amanda, I don't know what to say; I am so incredibly sorry to hear you lost Boo yesterday. She was a very special girl; a true survivor tripawd princess warrior. The tears literally started streaming down my face when I read your post. When the diagnosis is OSA, we expect our pets will eventually succumb to cancer, but to beat cancer for over two and a half years only to lose your life to a freak accident is particularly cruel it seems. I am so sad for you today and will be keeping you and Boo in my thoughts and prayers. Scout and the others will give Boo an extra special welcome at the park by the Bridge. Sending hugs your way.

Scout: January 31, 2002 to November 7, 2011
Scout's diagnosis was "poorly differentiated sarcoma"; amputation 1/11/2011. Scout enjoyed 9 fantastic years on 4 legs and 9 glorious months on 3 legs. If love alone could have saved you…
I'm so sorry to hear about Boo - it is so hard when it happens so suddenly.
Two a half years is amazing! Boo is an inspawration to so many of us!
Sending many hugs

I am so so sorry. May sweet Boo rest in peace, knowing how very loved he is.
K, an 8 year old chocolate lab, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma of the radius and ulna on 12/23/11. She had stereotactic radiation to kill the bone tumors, and 3 rounds of carboplatin. On 3/16/12, lung mets were found. We tried several different kinds of chemotherapy to slow the lung mets but none worked. Finally, mets appeared at other sites, including her spine. She earned her angel wings on July 15, 2012. K changed my life, and I'll never forget her. Our/my journey is chronicled at romp-roll-rockies.blogspot.com.
