Kim and Buster

How you holding up?

I am so frustrated with the vet system. It seems you really have to be an advocate for you dog. You should have seen the sh*t show I went through to get metacam (had to find it in stock) for Titan.

Hi,

I get your frustration about the way that some vets treat our furry pals and the lack of information on the treatment of this terrible cancer.

Dee also has good and bad days when it comes to taking walks - he is soooo tired when he gets home, that he just plonks down on the bed and huffs and puffs for ages to find his breath again.  But he is still excited about going for his walks and that is a good sign!

Good luck with you and Buster - I really hope that the meds do the work that they are supposed to do.  We are sending lots of love and kissess to you and Buster!

Lots of love,

Ansunette & Dee xxx

Kim and Buster,

Buster is in my prayers each day. I am so sad to hear of his lung mets. We are sending healing thoughts your way...

Kim and Buster,

You and Buster are in our prayers.  Bonnie has no lung mets yet and she has good and bad days walking.  That hopping takes its toll.   I hope the metronomic protocol is working.

We agree with Jerry.  Stop and smell the roses with Buster.   He probably wants you to slow down and take it easy so he is slowing down for you.   Take care, Kim and know that Buster will be with you as long as he can physically and forever, like Jerry, in spirit.  Bonnie has given me a totally different outlook on life.   I know it will be different when her news is bad, but our hearts are all theirs in the good and bad.   Smell the roses and give Buster a hug and kiss for us.

Kim, how is Buster doing?  We haven't heard from you in a while and I was curious to know if he was having problems with any of the drugs.  Does he still seem short of breath?  Tazzie does this all of the time but I think the effort of hopping just tires her out.  Maybe she will get more strength now that the IV chemos are done.

Hope things are going well.....

Hi Dear Friends,

Just a note to say Hello to everyone. Buster is doing OK. We take it day by day. He  is still on the protocol and other supplements including the artemisinin . His appetite is not as hardy, he now prefers one meal a day with treats. … and doesn't go potty as routine as usual.

We still walk daily, despite the cold. He loves just hanging outside. I wonder if the cold air helps his lungs? As long as he is happy, so am I at this point. Will keep everyone posted! seize the day!!

Ps the univ of penn sent me some interesting info on his pathology report since I questioned it.  Now being called a chondroblast. Buster is apparently 4 out of 18 dogs with chrondrosarcoma with metastasis. Saying these tumors can be difficult to tell whether they originate from bone or cartilage according to a paper from a pathologist in 1994. You should think by this time ,they would of made more progressFrown

Love,

Kim & Buster

I am so glad that Buster is still doing well.  Tazzie seems to prefer being outside, too.  Maybe it has to do with the meds?  She hasn't started the artemisinin yet (I am adding one drug at a time then checking her liver values) but is on both Metacam and Cytoxan now.  We have had some warm days with sun so I think it might be a touch of spring fever!

Wishing you well....

I knew when you started this topic – December 17th – that the title was all wrong. Here we are a month later, and it doesn't seem like Buster will be saying goodbye too soon. Not while he is still enjoying those walks!

Keep those spirits up and continue to enjoy every day to the fullest. Thanks for the update.

Big husky kisses for Buster!!!  Cali likes to be outside too - I think it is a husky thing.  She likes to roll in the snow and "supervise" the more wild dog play of the younger ones.

Kim & Buster:

So happy to hear that Buster is doing ok & you too!

My kids won't go out in this cold unless I bundle them all up!! I swear, it's worse than having 5 two year olds! They hate the cold, but greyhounds have little to no body fat & no undercoat to protect them.

Here's hoping the protocol does Buster a world of good!

Thank you for listening and caring about my Buster. Here is a recent picture of him with my nephew, Brandan. Our family is mourning the loss of his father, who was taken away from us on 12/31/08 at the age of 39.

I don't need a stethoscope to know that Buster's breathing is worse at night. The other night I thought I even heard a weazing sound. He is not coughing, though.  To say they least, it is a very sad time. I try to muddle through it all and stay faithful.

Thank you for caring,

Kim & Buster
