I am so sorry for your loss - it really hits home - and my heart goes out to you.  Polo sounds like he was a beautiful golden boy who had so much love to give.  His face looks so similar to my golden Mackenzie so of course when I read about another golden loss my heart breaks.  But he's pain-free now and running with all of the other tripawd angels.  You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Kami (Mackenzie's Mom)

My sweet golden Mackenzie.  She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2  although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home.  She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009.  She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes.  I love you Mackenzie!

Oh, the Rainbow Bridge has been a busy place this summer. So many brave, beautiful warriors have moved on to leave us with huge holes in our hearts.

Polo was such an inspiration. Because of that - and your tremendous love for him - he will continue to make an amazing impact here on earth.

Our prayers are with your family. We lost our golden in June. I'm still aching to hear her bark at the doorbell or the jangle of her collar as she thunders down the stairs. But in the quiet, there is peace. Knowing these beautiful spirits are finally at rest.

When reading on how to tell it is time to say goodbye I read one vet that said it is better to say goodbye one week too soon than one week too late.  As one that waited one week to late I just want to reassure you that you made the right decision.

I know your hearts are empty and I am so sorry for your loss. You are in my prayers.

Polo said:

We could see the difference in his eyes—he was holding out for us, which made the decision very tough.  The only thing that sparked his attention was one of us entered or leaving the room.

As I once more stare through tears of sadness, sturggling to find words that I know will never express how deeply the sorrow I feel for your loss, I can only ask that you accept our deepest sympathy at this very difficult time. It always is about returning to the kind of quality of life we want for our companions, and while you definitely succeeded there, you should also feel great about the quantity of time that you were able to extend to Polo after this diagnosis. Without any fault of their own, too many of our members are not lucky eneought to extend this "borrowed" time as long as Polo. Take pride in those facts.

Miss Cherry's eyes also told me when it was time to let her leave her ravished body. I too wanted her to pass over with the dignity and consciousness that her devotion deserved. While I know that it is not of much comfort just now, for this too you should take great pride. It demonstrates your great love for the "Big Dog".

This community is too aware of my closing thought - You will never be totally without Polo, for the gifts that Polo gave you will live with you forever. May you soon find the day when you can remember the "Big Dog" with a smile and quiet comfort in his memory.
