Hi all! I hope your holiday has been happy as mine has been. Dottie is hopping around, getting up on her own and doing great two weeks post accident. I'm amazed by her. She asked for belly rubs today and had to be blocked from trying to go up the stairs.
She does seem to be looking for something. I'm not sure if it is Clyde. I gave her one of his stuffed toys and she wanted to sniff and snuggle it. She has also been very interested in the neighbor dogs.
What are your thoughts or experiences with introducing a new companion to a new tripawd?

DOTTIE!!!! DOTTIE, DOTTIE, DOTTIE!!!! You're melting my heart over here sweet girl!!! I love how Dottie stays on her carpet path for traction . Such a smart girl!
Anytime is a good time to bring another dog into your home as far as I'm concerned!! Clyde will present you with the right dog for you and for Dottie, and for that lucky doggy! I know Dottie is missing Clyde, as you are too. So, I would say, start looking! Never hurts to look😉
Giving Dottie another week or so to heal before bringing in another dog is probably a good idea. It generally takes a dog about thirty days for muscles, etc, adjust to walking on three.

We've been amazed at how well Dottie is doing. Once she felt well enough to get up she's been quite busy and we've had to contain her a bit.
We appreciate your two cents! We watched videos of dogs today and she seemed to enjoy that a lot. We prefer that she helps us select her next friend so we will probably wait a few weeks so she's strong, steady and confident on her feet. 😊
I'll be posting an update tomorrow after Dottie's follow up appointment for suture removal. It's a big day!

As far as introducing a new pack member- I think you are smart to wait until Dottie is a bit stronger. I'm guessing that Dottie will be quite rambunctious with a new playmate and you want her to be healed up from all her injuries.
That being said...my experience has been that the next pack mate comes along on their own timeline! So if the right pup makes its presents known you will have to take them in.
I don't really have experience with your specific situation. When Maggie had her amp I had her little sister Tani so they were already together. When TriPugMutt Elly came to me about 3 years ago I had already had quad-Pug boy Obie for about 4 years.
Congrats on suture removal day! And I can't wait to see who joins your pack.
