Welcome Colin and family!

Sorry you find yourself here but trust us when we all say...it will work out just fine!  Things will be a bit different but once a dog gets his/her footing - it all works out.

Best of luck!

Welcome to the family. The fact that you aren't dealing with cancer is a big plus. If you get to the point you feel something more needs to be done, I wouldn't even think twice about amputation. You will be amazed at how well they adjust, and if the choice came down to the dog lives if he has 3 legs or has to be put down only because of a bum leg, do the surgery. Once it's over you'll say I can't believe I was so stressd in making the decision, Good luck. Don't be afraid to ask anything, experience gives the best answers, Paws Up, Spirit Gus and Dan

Welcome! My dog lost her leg because she got hit by a car...so I am not hear for cancer either. But we are all going or went through the same thing. It is very heartbreaking, I cried for days when I knew my Bailey was going to be losing her leg. But once I got her home, and seen she was the same old Bailey, happy to be with a family ( she was in a shelter for almost a year after she got hit ) I was perfectly fine. I am sure that everything will be fine and if you end up amputating your dog will be happy and most likely relieved to not be in pain anymore! Good luck and keep us posted, and if you have any questions..that is what we are here for 🙂
