Hi Deb!
I’m so sorry to hear about Maggie’s leg. I know how hard this is for everyone involved.
If her leg is getting worse, I really would sit with your orthopedic vet and discuss all the options, and how those options will relate to a better life for Maggie. There were options for Calamity, but none of them were right for her. We chose the amputation to let her become the dog she once was.
If there is any lysis on Maggie’s bone, ask the doctors to send it for a histopathology. Probably nothing serious, like Calamity, but the peace of mind is well worth it.
I wish you & Maggie the best of luck through this roller coaster ride & will be here rooting for you all the way. Remember, it’s not an easy ride for the first 2 weeks, but in the big picture of her life, it’s a drop of sand.

Janie and Calamity- I am having a hard time figuring out how to use this site- I am not an experienced blogger. I had a hard time trying to find my way back to this spot- anyway, some good news possibly for Maggie- xrays this past week indicate that she may not need surgery- her broken leg appears to have not separated but it is just healing poorly and slowly and their might be an infection. I will know more after the orthopedic surgeon looks at the xrays and Maggie on the first of Dec. I will try to find my way back to this site to give an update. Thanks Janie and Calamity for your response and support. How is Calamity doing now?
