Sadie has a small dark bump along her healed incision. Small enough that I can't really get a decent picture of it -- I mainly found it with my fingers. It's not getting noticably bigger or smaller. She's been licking a lot at that specfic spot (she's a bit of a licker in general, but thsi one spot is getting more licking than average). Its right along with the incsion healed a little funky. The only thing I can think of is an ingrown hair. The staple at that one point was positioned so the edges curled in as it healed, so it's quite possible that she ended up with a hair follicle curling into the healing portion of her skin. Anyone run into anything like that before?

For reference, we are 7 weeks post-amp. The rest of her incision doesn't bother her at all. It's not red, puffy or inflamed. Just one little bump, about the size of the tip of a fork tine that seems to bug her.

It could be a SQ knot from a deeper suture layer or a hair that is growing the wrong way.  I would use a hot compress but if it drains or really bothers her then you might need to give antibiotics.

Definitely call your vet, sometimes you can just tug and it comes out, but it depends on the suture technique.  When Sheba had her TPLO last year we had the same problem about 6 weeks out.  The vet had used black sutures, so it looked like one of her hairs (there's something to be said for blue sutures, in my opinion).  She told us to give a quick, gentle tug, but it didn't come out.  When we took her in to have it looked at, they made a tiny incision ("1/4) and found it was still knotted.  Good thing we didn't pull too hard!  they closed it up with a steri strip and that was that.

Cynthia and Sheba

Right rear amputation 6/30/16 due to osteomyelitis of fungal origin (Aspergillus Penicillium).
Final diagnosis - systemic Aspergilosis Penicilliosis, being treated with long term itraconazole.
8/15/16 - Probable spinal involvement, loss of appetite, neurology consult in the works.

A suture was my first thought, too.  At this point, the internal sutures are probably dissolving so it could be that's why it's bothering her.  It happens with people, too.

she's lickingn a bit less. We'll be going into the vet on Saturday, so I'll have them look at it then if it's still bugging her.
