I have searched all over online and cannot find a straight answer to my question: How long should it take a grain-free food to make its journey from mouth to my front yard?

We moved a month ago, from a house with a dog door to a house where I have to take my dogs out. I thought they were on a great eating-pooping schedule, but I was wrong. The offender is (of course) Evelyn. Are bulldogs just different? The dog is a poop factory. She literally poops 3 or more times a day. I am trying desperately to figure out what time to feed her so that she doesn't have to go in the wee hours of the morning, but so far it doesn't seem to matter. Every feeding is an opportunity to produce more and go out again. Dakota seems to be fine with anything; why is she different? I am really wondering if bulldogs have a unique digestive tract or if she just has it in for me.

(Feeding her dinner at 4 pm results in middle of the night pooping. Feeding her at 10 pm has resulted in the same. Breakfast is between 7:30 and 8, generally. Is that the offending mealtime? I'm pulling my hair out over this.)

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Shari

From abandoned puppy to Tripawd Warrior Dude, Dakota became one of the 2011 February Furballs due to STS. Our incredibly sweet friend lived with grace and dignity till he impulsively raced over the Bridge on 12-15-12.

Bulldogs are often big poopers!  All dogs are different with respect to their bathroom habits.  My dog Julian always poops first thing in the am even before eating or urinating.  Loki often doesn't have a bowel movement until 30 minutes after eating but sometimes he doesn't have to go until evening.  None of my dogs seem to go to the bathroom at all anytime after 8 pm.

Transit times through the gut are fairly standard for liquids (stomach is usually empty within 2 hours and liquid makes it to the colon within 24 hours) but solids vary quite a bit.  Most dogs have to go more if they are eating more fiber.  A lot of Bullies do well on a raw diet or a limited ingredient diet such as herring and sweet potato.

Okay, I have to apologize, but I'm laughing too. Sorry you're having to get up in the middle of the night for your Monkey-dog…

Rio was the pooping-est dog that I've ever been around — we'd go on a hike and she would go 5 or 6 times and sometimes even more during the hike, and often times that was after going at our house before she left. We'd always joke and say she was off-loading ballast to make the hike easier. Even on a normal day, no hikes, just hanging out, that girl could poop 3-4 times. That being said, the only time any of our girls get us up in the night to go #2 is if they are having "an episode." Hope that Evey isn't having a little Montezuma's….

Bahahahahahahahaha! HA! I have a Masters in Poopology- a Brown Belt (get itwink) in Poop-Fu

Mom says our yard looks like a herd of Bison migrated through.....(and she picks up every day)

Also I'm old and cannot squat... so I walk and poop...mom calls it a landmine effect, when she tries to avoid one pile she steps back into another. Bahahaha! Gotcha!

I get fed at 6:00 am and 4:00 pm every day like clock work but guess what?! I poop whenever I darn well feel like it. Sometimes I like to wake mom up at 1am or 2am or whenever (dad pretends like he doesn't hear me). Hey- it's all about me!
