Trust my message finds you all well!
I'll start by saying that I live in Europe and I am not a native English speaker so I hope my message will be clear.
My cat (14 yo) has been diagnosed with fibrosarcoma a month ago. 10 days ago we made the decision to move on and amputate the front left leg. The doctor used gas anesthesia.
Highlights:
- my cat managed to pee after 48 hours with a bit of blood so we rushed him to the vet;
- 3 days iv treatment (fluid therapy, vitamins, furosemide and Nephrotect since kidney values were a bit elevated)+Aminavast, Azodyl, Renalvet and Hepatiale Twist off orally (liver values were also 3 times higher than normal)
- starting right after the surgery, in total, 5 days of Cefort (cephalosporin), 2 days Meloxicam followed by another 3 days Tolfedine
End of this week we did again the blood work, liver values and lactate dehydrogenase are still high. The vet recommended to move on only with liver supplements.
Questions:
What can we do to revert the liver insufficiency?
In case your cat experienced something similar I would be more than happy if you can share your thoughts.

I'm sorry to read that your cat is having this issue. Is your cat home now? What is the exact diagnosis your vet gave? And what are the supplements the vet is recommending?
And most importantly, what is your kitty's name? 😉

Were the liver and kidney values normal before surgery? Is he jaundiced (yellow)? Here in the States I use denamarin which is a combination of milk thistle and the antioxidant SAM-E that can help detoxify the liver. Are the kidney values normal now? I would continue antibiotics and if he is jaundiced ultrasound the liver to look at his gall bladder.
