Wasn't sure where to post this random question but can you use human sunscreen on a dogs white nose or does it have to be something else?

A friend of mine uses human sunscreen on her dogs nose.  Her vet told her it was ok.  I've also seen people put zinc on their pups noses.  Specially like when they use the blue or pink colored zinc!

When we lived in Wisconsin I used to buy canine sunscreen at Petsmart; it was combined with a safe mosquito repellent.  I would be careful using zinc with small dogs because zinc can be toxic if ingested (it causes hemolytic anemia) although this risk is low.

Good to know about the zinc.  I've never used it.  Just seen dogs at the beach with it on.  I didn't know they made a doggie version of sunscreen either.  I'll let my friend that uses her sunscreen on her dogs nose to check it out.

Thanks everyone

I didn't realise that about zinc either. Will see if I can get some pet sunscreen somewhere here but if not will try baby/infant sunscreen

Thanks
