I know I haven't been posting much around here lately. Sassy has been gone over 7 years and I update her blog with my furbabies now. Most of you know I just lost my girl Snickers after a very very short illness that started at Christmas time. I just have one suggestion and one of our long time members told me this when Sassy was diagnosed with mets. Take pictures of them and make sure YOU ARE IN SOME. It doesn't matter if you hate selfies or whatever. Those pictures become the most treasured memories you have of them. I have some of Snickers before she got sick but I took a couple at the ER clinic at Christmas. I love those. Yes I was had been crying because I wanted her home for Christmas but at least I got to see her and spend a little bit of time with her. Those are the last pictures I will ever ever have of us together.
You never know what will happen. Most of us who are dealing with cancer know our time is limited but like this I had no idea I would lose my girl on Jan 5, 2021. Just take those pictures and treasure them.

"You aren't doing it TO her, you are doing it FOR her. Give her a chance at life."
Now that is good advice.
Since my cat got ill I certainly appreciate the time that I have with her and her brother a lot more, we cannot really help taking things for granted in this life, be it friends, family or pets. It is really good advice to stop what you are doing every day and see what you value and makes you happy, enjoy that time.
The last times we have with our pets is often bittersweet, but the pain will always be less than the love and pleasure that those memories can give us if we let it. A photo is a great way to start!
- "what shall be done for these innocents? I have been warned not even to raise the question of animal immortality, lest I find myself “in company with all the old maids”. I have no objection to the company" - C S Lewis (The Problem of Pain)
- "Mr Toplady was touched by the cruelty of the scene, and exclaimed, ' Who could bear to see that sight, if there were not to be some compensation for these poor suffering animals in a future state' 'I certainly hope,' said my grandfather, ' that all the bulls will go to heaven; but do you think this will be the case with all the animal creation' 'Yes, certainly,' replied Mr Toplady, with great emphasis, ' all, all!" - Josiah Bull (recording a meeting with the great A. M. Toplady, author of "Rock of Ages" in "Memorials of the Rev. William Bull of Newport, Pagnel")
- "Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God" Luke 12:6
Oh Michelle, thank you for that sweet reminder. With all of your heartache right now, to think of sharing this suggestion to all of us just says so much about your giving heart.
That photo is so so precious. I'm glad you had the wherewithal to think of taking it. Snickers looks so strong. I still can't believe she's gone.
I agree, life is short and you just never know. I didn't take very many photos of us and Wyatt during his last couple of months and I wish I had. I have loads of him, but no good ones of us together. Sure missed that opportunity.

Just seeing this. I wish I had more photos of me with my Angel furbabies. You are spot on Michelle, especially for those of us who are camera dodgers. I never take a good photo. Period. And I wish I had some to look back on but I was too busy happily being the photo taker and not in the front lines.
FWIW.... only you see a crappy photo. I see love there.

Nitro 11 1/2 yr old Doberman; right front amp June 2014. Had 6 doses carboplatin, followed by metronomic therapy. Rocked it on 3 legs for over 3 years! My Warrior beat cancer, but couldn't beat old age. He crossed the Bridge peacefully on July 25, 2017, with dignity and on his terms. Follow his blog entitled "Doberman's journey"
"Be good, mama loves you".....run free my beautiful Warrior
Love this!! Look up at the clouds in the sky. Do you see the ones that are heart shaped? I definitely see two....maybe three.❤❤❤

Michelle - you are so right! It wasn't until Griffin's cancer diagnosis that I started realizing how few pictures I had of the both of us together. I started taking selfies, asking friends/family to take photos of us (the pandemic made that a bit tough too!), and I scheduled an outdoor photoshoot with a photographer last summer. I stopped caring so much about what I looked like and just focused on how much I would treasure those photos later on. This one was taken on Griffin's birthday last month and it is one of my absolute favorites of us together! Thanks for the great reminder!
Griffin lived an amazing life for 11 years! Diagnosed with osteosarcoma on March 17, 2020, Griffin's right forelimb was amputated on April 2, 2020. Ten days later he was running and playing fetch! Lung metastasis discovered in July 2020 did not slow down Griffin and he lived joyfully for the next 7 months, passing peacefully at home on February 11, 2021. https://griffin.tripawds.com
