I am still patiently waiting for my first foster Dane. There were a few in the works but the owners never surrendered their Dogs. I am not sure what is taking so long. I am guessing that it is the criteria that is needed to make the best match for my household. They will only place a male Dane in my home because I already have an adult female Doberman. The Dane also has to be able to be around kids and be ok with cats. The coordinator also said that she was going to try and find an easy one for my first one. So I will wait. Some days I am feeling incredibly impatient but I know that everything will work out the way it's supposed to. Last week I took care of my sister's Pitbull while she was in NC for her son's graduation from bootcamp. I got a glimpse of what it may be like to have a foster in my home. It was alot of fun but there were some kinks to work out. Emalee was amazingly tolerant even though Ace is the most energetic playful Dog I have ever met. Overall things went really well and we really enjoyed having Ace with us for 4 days. I will let you know when I finally do receive my first foster. That is if I am not too busy lol. Having and extra Dog here that was so active was very time consuming. But I loved every minute of it!

Wow, I would have thought you would be "knee deep" in it by now.  I checked petfinder.com because I was on it anyway for a friend of mine with a special needs child and there is a great girl named Coda who loves kids and cats and other dogs.  Her downfall is her age, she is 8 years old.  She is in Lanley, BC.   Do you only want to foster?

I couldn't begin to say how special Sammy is to us.  Living and laughing with and loving this wonderful boy is priceless.

Yes, at this point I am only looking to foster. I would like to do fostering for a while and then I will eventually get another Dane to keep. The rescue said that if I adopt while I still have my Doberman Emalee that I would only be able to adopt a male. I would really like to adopt a female but they said that I can't because two grown females usually don't match well. I asked if it still mattered if it were a puppy and she was pretty sure that it would still be the same. And she said that they rarely have puppies. So I wanted to foster some males while I still have Emalee and then maybe later on down the road I can adopt a female.

Patience is virtue ...or isn't that what they say?

I'm so glad you are going to rescue!  I know rescue groups for full breed dogs can be hard.  Hence the reason, I like going to the shelter...I have no patience!   But then, I like mix breeds...it's like a grab bag...you never know what you'll get until their personality shines!  But then when they are gone you can't find another one like them because they are unique. crying

Here's hoping someone comes your way soon!!

Fingers and paws crossed that you get someone soon.

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!

I found Daisy at the mailbox after my own dog had been diagnosed with cancer. We tried to find her home and then a home for her.

Well, she has been here for four years now! So, what I'm trying to say is... you just never know...there may just be a Dane out there waiting to find it's way home to you!

In your heart, where I belong.

Yep, anjl is right. Have you checked your mailbox? A Dane puppy might be inside!winker

The good part of this is that people are keeping their dogs. We can be happy that you aren't overflowing with the need because that would be pretty bad for the dogs. We want their owners to be able to keep them forever.

I know it's hard to be patient when you want to do this so badly. You have a heart of gold open to those in need. I know you'll make an incredible difference in the life of a dog soon.

I know it's driving you crazy to wait, but it's a great sign that the foster folks are really careful about where they place dogs, which will work out great for your pack. Hang in there, and like everyone says, you never know when your forever dog will find you.
