I always mean to be here more, but then I fail. LOL. I'm an alumni, for those that don't know me. Anyway, this forum has been especially on my mind lately. I moved and finally got a new job. I will be starting at the oncology department of a Veterinary Hospital next week. I am super excited. It's a teaching hospital so there will be lots of opportunities to learn. They are going to help pay for my schooling so I can finally get my vet technician certification.
I will be working and in school but I'm hoping I'll still remember and have time to pop up here and share things I've learned. Cora wasn't a cancer dog but so many of the tripawds here are.

I have no doubt you will continue to make contributions on so many levels because of your experience with Cora and Floyd too. We all benefited greatly and were so,privileged to be part of the "Cora experience"...and what an adventure it was. The devotion to her well being knew know limits.

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Thanks all. I am loving the job. I have so much learn but the staff are great teachers. If your dog or cat has cancer, and there's a teaching hospital nearby, I definitely recommend it. The doctors here are so sharp. There's also so many opportunities for new technology and clinical trials. I think right now we have 13 different clinical trials going.
I actually assist in giving chemotherapy, so the posts here about that are super interesting to me now.
There's definitely going to be really sad days, but for so many dogs and cats, there's hope.
Oh that's wonderful to hear! You have such a huge, compassionate heart for all beings, the pets who get to be your patients are so lucky!
Speaking of chemotherapy, have you heard anything about a carboplatin shortage? There's a member in CA who had to switch osteosarcoma protocols because her oncologist couldn't track any down. See:

I'll always, always, always be in awe of the commitment and love and devotion you showd to Cora (and Floyd too). Cora brought you here, and ultimately in many ways to the job you hold now. We learned so much from all the creative ways you found to help Cora and to understand "the dog within", and how to communicate accordingly. And now you will continue to educate us as you learn more and about cutting edge therapies. And I have no doubt uou will add value to all your "teachers" because of what you've observed here

Yeah, the experience here and with Cora can definitely help me. I have such a different perspective on amputation because of that. Also, what we, as our pet's people, go through when trying to evaluate quality of life.
It's funny, because a memory just came up in my Facebook page of Cora. She will always be my heart dog. Hmm... I forgot, I always have issues posting images here. Well, stay tuned for a nostalgic Cora picture

That is such a bummer about the carboplatin shortage. Yikes! I hope that gets resolved soon, it must be so tough for the vets to prioritize patients and then have to tell clients where they rank. Ugh!
