I shared once that we used french fries from fast food drive through to teach Zeus (and Angel Merlin) to like car rides, but how Zeus is always confused when we go to the bank drive through and get nothing.  A couple of weeks ago we went to the bank and Zeus was standing quietly in the back of the SUV (as normal - he really is this kinda shy/gentlemanly type) until someone pulled up in the line right beside us.  Apparently they saw him and the kids in the car were smiling and waving to him, which made him give his happy "AWWW, PLAY PLAY PLAY" bark.  The woman in the bank must have heard because, for the first time ever, I opened the returned canister to find.... yep, two Milk Bones.  Zeus was beside himself.  I've always known he is very smart dog and VERY food motivated, but I gotta say he figured this out in record time - we have been to the bank twice since and now he rears up on the console between the front seats, sticks his head toward the window and lets out a big woof.  Both times he was rewarded.  She may have created a monster! little-devil

Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11.  A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

Cute story! Hooray for Zeus. And hooray for nice bank tellers!

Jackie, Angel Abby's mom

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!

Rio figured out that the bank tellers had cookies very quickly, too! She'd poke her little face around me and give the ladies this "Ummmm, hello, don't you want to give the doggie a cookie?" face... The other two still haven't done the math, and are happily surprised if they get a cookie at the bank.

Obie would love to hang with you Zeus! He could learn really fast to bark for milk bones at the bank.

Humm... I don't think there are any drive through banks left in our town. I guess he will have to stick with twister and tug a jug.

Cool Zeus! Try it at Mickey Ds and see if they throw a burger in there for ya!

Momma sez maybe I bark loud enough (not a problem for ME!) at the drive thru they'll throw some money in there to shut me up!

OMGosh, Wyatt Ray Dawg, it is so funny that you say that!  We once went through the McD's drive through and he was barking (which usually scares them b/c he squeezes his head between the back of the driver's seat and the window frame - so all they see is this barking dog snout and they think he's mean - I always explain 'sorry, he's just excited for his french fries').  This one time they handed me our bag of food and then separately handed me a small order of fries (free) for him!

Zeus, you are a funny boy! Sammy and Sosa thought every drive-thru, pharmacies included, needed to give them treats. And most did! However, because of their size — and the fact that they stuck half their bodies out the window trying to be noticed — made more than one window-person back away in fright! Big ferocious golden retrievers ... crying and wiggling for treats.

Smilin' Sammy, March 16, 2004 – Dec. 5, 2011
Golden retriever, diagnosed with osteosarcoma in September 2010 — right front leg amputated November 2010. He fought valiantly to stay with us; but a second diagnosis of osteosarcoma, this time in his left front leg, was more than our golden warrior could overcome. He loved his pack — and everyone else he met.

We loved him even more.
Thanks for the pennies, Sammy. They helped.

Are there any drive-through jewelry stores anywhere around?

From abandoned puppy to Tripawd Warrior Dude, Dakota became one of the 2011 February Furballs due to STS. Our incredibly sweet friend lived with grace and dignity till he impulsively raced over the Bridge on 12-15-12.

Dakota's thoughtful and erudite blog is at http://shari.tr.....pawds.com/

Excellent question re:  drive through jewelry stores.

We don't "drive thru" here in NYC but this morning at the vet hospital there were new treat dispensers - like a tall, old fashioned bubble gum or M&M dispenser you put a quarter in.  Designed for a human to turn the crank and have treats dispensed.  Ajax discovered he could flip up the metal lid where treats are dispensed and pull them down with his tongue even though no human had "dispensed" any treats.  He especially liked the cat treats, though he ultimately returned to the dog treat machine.
