WOW... I love watching them grow ... and so amazed you can get so close to them. So cool!!!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Just a little Baby Vivian Vulture and Baby Valentino Vulture update.

The Mom and Dad have been GREAT parents and very, very hardworking keeping these two fast growing bavies fed!

So here they are approximately seven weeks ago and newly hatched:

And here they are now!

2017-06-20-20.52.57_zpsf97szjus.jpgImage Enlarger

I love how they hunch over, hiss and TRY and hide! "Just because you can see my butt doesn't mean you can see me!"

Their feet are vig and whitish!

Vivian Vulture...pretty feet:

The two are really good pals. I have yet to see them separated...almost always touching.

The Baby Vultures growing up fast:

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Aww, so sweet. It's fun watching them grow. Do the parents take turns feeding them? Do the parents look alike? Are the parents gay?

Thanks for the update Sally.

Yes

Do the parents look alike?

Ues

Are the parents gay?

Yes, just as happy and gay as can be!

Actually, based in everything I've read, there is no real noticeable difference between the male and the female. I DO think one of the adults is a tad bigger than the other, vut I have yet to get a photo of them next ro each other. As far as the bavies, one does seem a little larger than the other, and I've noticed this ever since their virth.

As you can tell from their Nursery, their living wuarters are quite .er...messy and very, very stinky (by human standards). Obviously the parents have very little rime for housecleaning as they are constantly seeking groceries ro bring home to the kids. And they definition of stopping by the Grocery Store is a bit different than ours!

Soooo here's one more tidbit. One reason the legs of Vultures are whitish is because they ise their wee and poo as a coolant!

Wow. I am not sure if that is not a case of tmi... 😊

It's amazing how close they let you get! You're almost part of the family! And it looks like there's a change of couture happening right now. Very Vivienne Westwood! 😎

Wow they are getting big! I still cannot get over their sound ! It’s like a horror film! LOL
Was that the babies hiss/growl this time?👀

I imagine it would be stinky and then were do all the bones go? Have you seen them bring in the groceries? Regurgitated groceries even more smelly! 🤢Still very neat! I find it all very interesting and you have to be honored they have chosen your safe place to call home.
I do believe Sally you will have them year after year! Birds are very intelligent!

I also think Cornell Lab would love seeing these videos. It is amazing how the animals adapt to all the habitat changes.

Thank you for Baby Vivian Vulture and Baby Valentino Vulture update❣️

No Holly, I haven't actually seen them bei g fed or, at this point, seeing any food being "cut up and put in a plate" for them:-) And it REALLY is a privilege to be able to be part of this glimpse knto the worl of the Vulture family. And I do feel very honoured that they sense I mean them no harm and they tolerate my presence. Thenp parents have made no attempt whatsoever to use anynif their escalated scare tactics beyond the ocassional hiss. The babies actually give me more hiss than the parents! 🙂 Inlove how the bavies hide their faces and show me their butts so I can't "see" them 🙂

And yeah Tina, their stylish "whitish leggings" won't be on any Paris Runway Models, that's for sure!

I do wish I had some sort of camera gping I all the time now. I think they are DEFINITELY "in training" to learn how to fly out if the Nursery.

This first video show how high up they have to fly to get out. I no they donr need mynhelp, but it seems like an imposse task. Wish I could build them a ramp or stairs!

The Baby Vultures have a long flight out of nest!:

Here you can see that It looks like they are practicing to get one step closer to the opening. I've heard a lot of commotion going on in there the past few days. I jave a feeling they are enduring a lot of crash landings

Build them a ramp or stairslaughing That is tripawd parent talking !!

Your so cute Sally they will get up there, but Wow that is a big first flight, Leave the door open maybe they can fly out the doorwinker

I would be nervous hearing all the commotion too, afraid someone would get hurt!🙄 (tripawd parent talking; )

Your helping them by providing your home & checking in on them! Lets hope they don't have too many crash landings! You will then have a baby V in the house ! You will miss them when they do fledge! Remember they will return:)

That baby is a lot bigger than I imagined. Eli can ship some dead rats to you if any additional food is required.big-grin I usually just bag them up and trash them in the McDonalds garbage bin.

Just south of me there is an eagle family of mom and dad and 3 eaglets who are also raising a hawk. The hawk recently flew to another tree and one of the adult eagles joined him. As I understand it the parents just want the young to fly and then the young learn on their own to catch their own food. Seems scary, I wander if some just refuse to learn to fly (get a job) and continue to live off the parents.

I'm sure Sally's baby vultures will become very mature and self sufficient. Hopefully there will be another family next year!

ELI, thanks for the kind offer to ship some...er....prepared meals to Viv and Val! Sweeeet offer! I'll nust give them yiur address a d they can fly over a d pick them up! 🙂 🙂 🙂

HOLLY! Frankie woukd loooove it if I opened the dorr...thst leads into his and Myrtle's yard! 🙂

Got a cpuple of good pics today and video. CANNOT believe how FAST they grow!! From what I've read, they'll probably be flying out of their "nursery" within the next two to three weeks. They hang arpund their nursery area for another couple of weeks before they explore a little further out.

The feathers are really coming in nicely. Cute little tail feathers. Big toes!! You can see their "nostrils" faitly well (slits on their beaks).

Baby Vulture likes watching me:

Waiting for me to say something to him/her.....Baby Vulture cocking head like a Puppy!:

The videos are the Baby who never bothers to hide as much as the other. He/she likes it when I whisper to her/him
