Let's NOT think about 2 weeks ago and look furward to each day on fewer meds and healing. Excellent job on getting more Cerenia.
Love to both sweet boys, and i can tell you already Sally will be requesting more photos for this pawesome news;)😻😽
I will keep our candle going for safe measure;)

Hello All
Mignon and Jolie are continuing to recover. Both are eating their food and snacks without mishap. I am thankful. I have been able to completely stop syringe feeding.
I have a question about Cerenia. Since Cerenia is mixed in with jolie's other medication. Should I save the Cerenia that was given to me separately in case Jolie has a bad day or just continue every day until it's gone?
Thanks everyone.♡♡♡
It's brilliant to hear the boys are eating independently without mishaps 🙌🏻 This makes all our day!!!👏🏻
No, I would not give extra Cerenia if you KNOW it is in Jolie's packet of meds you put in the gel capsule. I wish they told you the dosage in the packets. He is doing so well it doesn't matter. Whatever the dosage, it is working,
Save it for after this course of meds. When you know, it is no longer in the packet of meds.
Cerenia can be given in 4-5 day courses and as needed, and there are expectations that I know exist for other inflammatory conditions. (I only have experience in using it in puking and inflammation of the gut)
The number of days off between courses is an excellent question for your vet, our Dr. Pam, and even the CKD group. I understand that the thinking has changed for cats, but I do not know what. We didn't rely solely on the Cerenia and had the Zofran. You can people do but I do not know the answer to guide you with any consecutive use.
Let us know what you discover, but save the extra Cerenia for when needed on off days when Jolie is backing off his food and is nauseous from this CKD.
Hugs and love to the boys, please.
P.S. If you ask, our Dr. Pam use the same post I started for you. https://tripawd.....s/#p260844

Hello All
It is such a relief to see them eat on their own again and to see Jolie approach when he hears the snack bag rattling. He will eat 5 or 6 snacks at a time now. Mignon doesn't eat many dry snacks but they both love the chicken snack tubes now.
Jolie has come to hate the normal saline solution iv's. When he hears me preparing them (yes he knows the sound of me preparing the iv's)he goes under the sofa. His thick fur makes it hard to grab the right amount of skin to put the iv in. He cries some as the solution goes in. Each time I do it I pray I am doing it correctly. The fact that he shows distaste for the iv's is a sign that he is getting stronger, no?
When I take Jolie in for follow-up on Monday I will try to get the specific dosage they are prescribing for each med and what each med is. I will ask her for a print out. It's frustrating that they won't label the meds.
regards to all
♡♡♡
Hahaha.. I can just visualize Jolie hearing the snack bag and coming running for it. When you think about how far he's come, it's really quite a miracle. where he uus now,I've had to give so cute IVs before and it does seem that the more I did it, the more they hated it. Double check with the vet and make sure you have a fine needle that just goes under the skin. Also, if I recall the vet had me change the needle every other injection, or maybe it was every injection. That was I guess because they could get dull very quickly
Hugs
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
PS apologies for not getting all of the pictures posted that you sent me last time. For whatever reason, my tablet is having a hard time downloading everything right now

MASSIVE RELIEF to see and hear the boys eating again!!!!
Some cats enjoy the fluids and know it makes them feel better. Some tolerate it, and some do not. I know you are to use a new needle every time, and I thought you said you have tiny gauge needles.
- Ideally, you want Terumo ultra-thin wall needles.
I can only direct you on ckd I have yet to do this at home. This is one area I always prepared for and have been spared thus far. Everything I was not prepared for came instead :/
Hopefully, these will help, and you know you can ask ckd board for first-hand experience tips. They won't need so much detailed info this round,
WAYS TO MAKE GIVING SUBCUTANEOUS FLUIDS EASIER - http://felinecr.....s_tips.htm
The saline solution can sting - read here - http://felinecr.....htm#saline
and lactaid ringers are preferred - read here http://felinecr.....ed_ringers
I don't know the availability of these things in Korea but maybe ask your dentist friend. The vets charge more for these items; most find alternative, affordable sources. They give tips on where to go here, but Korea is not listed. see here http://felinecr.....heaply.htm
And yes, our cats know the sound of excellent and unpleasant things. I'm sorry Jolie is not loving his treatments and wants to hide; that makes this super tough on you both. Try to get his favorite crunchy snacks out for his fluids and see if you can make it a more positive experience for him. Your attitude can also help Jolie tell him it is his healing time and, yes, fake it until you make it.
I hope something in here may help, and yes, getting a printout of the meds and dosages and popping it into a Google Translate or other program will be super helpful for you, Jolie, and any & all directions.
Give the boys a smooch from us, please

Sally. - You can email the pics to me if you wish. I'm happy to help get them posted tomorrow.
I'm heading to bed now, but do send; good night to all!

Hello
I throw all the syringes and needles out after I do the I.V. and use new everything each day.
I use a 50 cc syringe and 23g (the Koreans call) butterfly needles. I think the American term is wing needles. I will see if I can find the ultra thin needles here in Korea. He was calm when I first started this when he was really sick. He is ok when I put in the first 50cc but when I do the second 50cc I.V., he seems uncomfortable. But he bounces back as soon as I am finished and I give him and his brother a chicken snack tube. He seems to have no after effect and his behavior is normal after I finish, like it never happened. I usually do it in in the morning to get it over with, so neither of us have to worry about it for the rest of the day.
I have talked to the vet about switching to Ringers and she said Normal Saline is better. I will talk with her again about it when I see her.
Thanks everyone
GREAT JOB!!
Yes, see, I do not know what is available. Those tips make things easier for you both and make it more comfortable. That video link I posted before had excellent tips in it as well, many pages back, I believe.
Always follow the vet's suggestion, but yes, do ask questions & see the reasoning behind it.
That is excellent. Everything is back to normal afterward. Our furmily is like that; they don't hold a grudge; they are not humans;) We know Jolie needs his fluids, and he feels better afterward,
You're always doing an excellent job, Ed. The boys are lucky to have you!!
HUGS and love to the boys, please!!

You are learning so much Edward. It's making you a better cat dad than you were before this all started. Nobody wants this kind of education but once you have it you are a smarter, wiser cat parent.
I used to get so nervous about putting a needle in Wyatt Ray for his monthly osteoarthritis medication. It took a LOT of practice before either of us were 100% comfortable with the process. But as you've seen, animals just don't hold grudges, I believe they really appreciate what we do for them to feel better. Your boys love you now more than ever!
