She did pee at the vet, but since she's been home (15hrs) she has not. She has been able to get in and out of the makeshift litterbox I made for her. (cardboard box with one side cut off completely, lined with pee pads and with a layer of paper pellet litter in the bottom). I switched her to paper pellet litter, from clay litter, to help keep the incision clean. Is she just holding it because she's not comfortable standing/squatting yet? I have pee pads everywhere so I don't really care where she goes. She is eating and drinking and hopping around.

Oh poor kitty. I would let your vet know, that's a long time. And if she is able to get in the litterbox at least you know that isn't the issue. Do you have another cat around who might inspire her to go?

I forgot to mention this article, How to Express a Cat’s Bladder. I would call your vet clinic and ask if it's OK to try.

She's an only child 🙁 I just called the vet, waiting for a call back.

I put her in her regular litter box with the clay litter and she peed and pooped, lol. She apparently is just not a fan of the paper pellets.

Cats can be so particular about their bathroom habits! I'm glad she went in her normal box.

My cat had her leg amputated on Thursday and didn’t pee until late Friday night. I did take her into the vet on Friday afternoon and they did an ultrasound of her bladder to make sure it wasn’t too big for concern (they did this free of charge which I was so grateful). They said it was big, but if she doesn’t pee until the next morning, then give them a call.

I know that your kitty has already (yay!), but I just wanted to post my experience.

One thing my cat hasn’t done was poop. Called the vet yesterday and they said if she doesn’t by tomorrow, then to give them a call. In the meantime, they told me to give her 1/2tsp of Miralax (I only did 1/4tsp cause it made me nervous giving it to her). So I’m hoping she does sometime today so I don’t have to bring her in tomorrow. I’m glad your kitty has pooped also!

One thing I’ve learned is sometimes the internet can scare you a bit. I’ve read “oh they need to pee right away” and it freaked me out! Of course it is soooo important that they do cause it can cause issues with the kidneys if the kitty doesn’t, and that is why I called the vet. Because she got her back leg amputated, the vet didn’t want to push on the bladder to squeeze the pee out cause the bladder is so close to the incision. Calling the vet is the best thing one can do with any concerns. I hope your kitty has an amazing recovery!!!

For us the key for both is her regular clay litter, we just have to supervise so she doesn't get litter on the incision She absolutely refuses to have anything to do with the paper pellets. Or vet recommended shredded paper towels but we haven't tried it yet.

I hope your cat is doing great <3
