I just popped in to check and see how things were going. You have gotten really good advice from people that have been there! I hope Scorpio is resting comfortably, and I hope you have been able to get some rest as well.

A few things to remember as you travel down recovery road. Scorpio's appetite may come and go with the meds and recovery process, this is normal. Same for pooping. You may have to get some different foods, treats to help keep him eating. Drinking is so very important too! Even more important for hydration and healing. Keep fresh water supplied close by, and you can even use some low sodium bouillon or bone broth, tuna juice, whatever will interest him. That will all come back as he recovers, but some of us need to coddle them a bit to make sure things keep moving in the right direction.

Try to make sure he is getting his medications at regular intervals to help guard against break through pain. Sometimes, with your vet's help, you may need to tweak when he gets his doses.

Litter box adjustments. Is he able to use his box ok right now? If not there are tons of tips and things you can do to make sure he gets there.

Please remember, he is not a spring chicken. And we have had many older kitties do really awesome as tripawds, but as an older kitty his recovery may take a bit longer and need a little more TLC, just like we heal slower as we age.

I hope some of this helps. Will be looking for updates.

Jackie and Huckleberry heart

Hugs,

Jackie, Bo, Andy, Oscar, Phoebe, and the coolest feral tripawd kitty Huckleberry
