Forget that old myth about how big dogs can’t have a good quality of life on three. This gorgeous gal from New Jersey is breaking stereotypes and beating cancer on three legs! Her mom Elizabeth sent her story to us. Here is in her words, and you can follow Dutchess on Instagram too!

- September 2023. Osteosarcoma tumor.
How did your Tripawd adapt to life on three?
- So far doing great!
What are your Tripawd’s favorite things to do?
- Snuggle and check on her chickens
Is there any special gear that helped or helps your Tripawd?
- Acupuncture!
If you went through amputation surgery recovery with your animal, what did you think would happen after surgery? Did your worst fears happen? How did you cope?
- We were really nervous the stitches would burst open because she was moving so much and that she wouldn’t adapt well. Thankfully the stitches held up and she’s doing great so far!
What is the biggest lesson you learned from your Tripawd?
- How resilient dogs are and how accepting they are to new circumstances.
What is your best advice to someone who is about to go through amputation with their pet, or someone who is thinking of adopting a Tripawd?
- Know that you are helping by reducing their pain (bone cancer is super painful) and giving them a chance at a better life.
