Halloween Pet Safety Tips

Halloween should be fun, so before donning that costume, check with your Tripawd first to make sure that s/he is OK with wearing one and that it doesn’t cause stress. The ASPCA’s Halloween Safety Tips include:

“If you do dress up your pet, make sure the costume isn’t annoying or unsafe. It should not constrict the animal’s movement or hearing, or impede his ability to breathe, bark or meow. Also, be sure to try on costumes before the big night. If your pet seems distressed, allergic or shows abnormal behavior, consider letting him go au naturale or donning a festive bandana.”

When choosing a costume, the ASPCA also suggests ensuring that the costume doesn’t have “small, dangling or easily chewed-off pieces” that can create a choking hazard. Costumes must be properly fitted so there’s no chance your Tripawd will trip, slip or fall while wearing it.
